Job Overview
The Data Center Technician II is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and support of data center infrastructure, including servers, storage systems, network equipment, cabling, and related hardware. This role serves as an escalation point for Level I technicians and performs complex technical tasks while ensuring high availability, operational excellence, and adherence to data center standards and safety procedures.
Shift Schedule:
Sunday-Wednesday or Wednesday-Saturday, with 10-hour AM shifts.
Key Responsibilities
Data Center Operations
  • Install, rack, stack, cable, label, and decommission servers, storage arrays, network devices, and related equipment.
  • Perform hardware break-fix activities, including replacement of components such as drives, memory, power supplies, GPUs, and network adapters.
  • Execute planned maintenance activities and support infrastructure upgrades.
  • Monitor data center health and environmental systems, including power, cooling, and rack space utilization.
  • Support system deployments and migrations while minimizing operational impact.

Incident and Problem Resolution
  • Troubleshoot hardware, connectivity, and infrastructure issues independently.
  • Respond to incidents within established service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Escalate unresolved issues to engineering teams and vendors as required.
  • Perform root cause analysis and document findings for recurring issues.

Cabling and Infrastructure Management
  • Install and maintain copper and fiber optic cabling.
  • Ensure proper cable management, labeling, and documentation standards.
  • Verify network and power connectivity for new and existing deployments.
  • Maintain rack layouts, equipment inventories, and asset tracking systems.

Documentation and Process Compliance
  • Create and update operational procedures, work instructions, and deployment documentation.
  • Accurately document maintenance activities, incidents, and change records.
  • Follow change management, security, and safety procedures.
  • Maintain compliance with audit and regulatory requirements.

Team Collaboration
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to Level I technicians.
  • Collaborate with network, systems, engineering, and facilities teams.
  • Participate in project planning and implementation efforts.
  • Support after-hours maintenance and on-call activities as required.

Required Qualifications
  • Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 2-4 years of experience in data center operations, IT infrastructure support, or related technical environments.
  • Experience with server hardware, storage systems, and networking equipment.
  • Knowledge of data center best practices, rack layouts, and cable management.
  • Experience replacing hardware components and performing diagnostics.
  • Ability to read technical documentation and follow detailed procedures.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting enterprise-scale or hyperscale data centers.
  • Familiarity with Dell, HPE, Cisco, Arista, Nvidia, Supermicro, or similar platforms.
  • Experience with GPU-based infrastructure and high-performance computing environments.
  • Knowledge of Linux and Windows server environments.
  • Understanding of DCIM tools, asset management systems, and ticketing platforms.
  • CompTIA Server+, Network+, A+, or equivalent certifications.

Compensation
Estimated Pay Range: $25.60 - $32.00 USD
