Role: Test Engineer
Location: Spring, TX -77389 (Onsite)
Duration: Long Term C2C / C2H / Fulltime

Technical Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree with 5-6 years' experience
  • Highly familiar with Enterprise Rack and Tower systems. Experience with ProLiant Systems is preferred
  • Expertise with Driver and Firmware upgrade on data center components (ex. ROM, CPLD, iLO etc.)
  • Proficient in reconfiguring hardware correctly, especially CPUs.
  • Good understanding of Windows, Linux, VMware and how to configure storage and network I/O cards under these OSes.
  • Basic network design, installation, configuration including switches, routers, and firewalls
  • Knowledge of and experience with layers 1-3 on OSI network stack
  • Troubleshooting, switch configuration, port assignments, cable changes
  • Some experience on any type of lab reservation system will be a plus.
  • Should be able to lift 30lbs and rack/stack hardware from equipment racks
  • Ability to recognize and create diagrams the server/network topology
  • Familiar with Industry standard virtualization i.e., VMware, Hyper-V
  • Prior experience of managing a team of 2-3 junior members.

Process Skills :

  • General OS administration including Windows, Linux, RHEL, VMware
  • Hardware management, support, firmware/bios maintenance for all HPE technologies
  • General hands on end-to-end, troubleshooting of hardware, software, and applications
  • Document processes for delivering services, implementation, configuration, topology
  • Collaborative support of R&D business equipment and provide steady state operations
  • Assist with lab logistics including rack moves, changes, inventory management, storage area, shipping and receiving as needed
  • Provide "hands/eyes" support for all devices (LAN connections, HW, servers) and related operations (for example, build, system monitoring, incident diagnostics, troubleshooting, resolution and escalation) as required to meet the organization's requirements.

  • Ability to quickly react and recognize an escalation to mitigate engineering downtime or impact
