Job description

Overview:
About the Role: We're seeking an experienced Mainframe Database Administrator to join our Atlanta team for a 6-month IT infrastructure project. You'll be responsible for administering and maintaining critical DB2 mainframe databases and associated enterprise tools in a mission-critical environment.
What You'll Do:
  • Administer and maintain IBM DB2 databases on mainframe systems
  • Manage database performance tuning and optimization using IBM tools
  • Handle database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures
  • Monitor system performance using CA Insight, Netview, and IBM monitoring tools
  • Execute database migrations, updates, and maintenance using specialized tools
  • Manage data replication and CDC (Change Data Capture) processes
  • Troubleshoot database issues and provide technical support
  • Collaborate with application teams on database design and optimization
  • Maintain database security protocols and access controls

What We're Looking For:
  • Strong experience with IBM DB2 mainframe database administration
  • Proficiency with mainframe administration tools including:
    • CA Insight, Netview, RACF Admin Tool
    • HANA Studio, IBM Data Studio, MaxDB Data Studio
    • CA Platinum, RC/Query, RC/Migrator, RC/Update, RC/Secure
    • Segus RTDX Tool Suite, BMC Tool Suite
    • BMC Log Master, BMC Apptune, CA Database Analyzer
  • Experience with IBM Optim Tool and AQT (Advanced Query Tool)
  • Knowledge of TOAD, CQM, SQL PA, and query optimization tools
  • Understanding of Q Replication and CDC Replication processes
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with mainframe operating systems and job scheduling
  • Excellent documentation and communication abilities

Preferred Qualifications:
  • IBM DB2 certifications
  • Experience with mainframe security (RACF, ACF2, Top Secret)
  • Knowledge of JCL and mainframe utilities
  • Familiarity with disaster recovery procedures
