The Division of Politics, Administration and Justice at California State University, Fullerton invites applications for a tenure‑track Assistant Professor position in the Department of Criminal Justice (RACE & INEQUALITY) with an appointment to begin Fall 2027.

The Department of Criminal Justice seeks a candidate who can teach core courses on race and ethnicity and/or elective courses on gangs and the criminal justice system. Candidates should prioritize scholarship addressing fairness in the criminal justice system and broader community. Successful candidates will teach, advise, mentor, and provide meritorious service to the department, college, university, and community. Excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service will determine tenure and promotion.

• Design, develop, and teach courses in Race, Inequality and the Criminal Justice System and/or Gangs and the Criminal Justice System.
• Produce scholarship commensurate with tenure requirements.
• Engage in departmental service and committee participation.
• Advise students and mentor diverse undergraduate and graduate populations.
• Participate in the broader university and disciplinary communities.

• Ph.D. in the social sciences, with emphasis in criminal and social justice, earned by the time of appointment.
• Commitment to excellence in teaching a diverse student body, including first-generation and low-socioeconomic students.
• Ability to teach existing courses in Race, Inequality and the Criminal Justice System, or Gangs and the Criminal Justice System.
• Potential to contribute to curricular growth and development of the criminal justice major.
• Research agenda advancing criminal and social justice in race/inequality and/or gangs.
• Strong record or potential for scholarly accomplishments appropriate to the appointment level.
• Evidence of service to the university and discipline.
• Experience working collaboratively with colleagues.
• Ability to balance teaching, scholarship, and service.

• Specialized expertise in pedagogy and scholarship with a focus on race/ethnicity or gangs and their intersections with the criminal justice system.

The Assistant Professor classification salary range is $6,221 to $13,224 monthly, with an anticipated hiring range of $6,990 to $7,130 per month.
