Job description

The Group Leader - Quality Assurance provides leadership and direction to inspection personnel across all shifts. This role supports the Quality Assurance Manager and Production Supervisor by helping to meet quality and production goals, coordinating inspection processes, and ensuring that materials and products conform to customer and internal specifications. The role also includes hands-on inspection, training, documentation, and problem-solving duties.
Pay Range: $26.68-$27.40 plus .75 shift premium
Key Responsibilities:
  • Inspect materials and products at set-up, in-process, and end-of-run (EOR) for conformance to dimensional and visual requirements.
  • Perform capability studies, Gauge R&R studies, inspectional layouts, and SPC charting for critical features.
  • Analyze and interpret blueprints and specifications.
  • Tag product for acceptance or rejection (NCM) and ensure accurate scrap reporting.
  • Operate inspection equipment including VIEW Precis 3000, Zeiss CMM, and other gauges/fixtures.
  • Collect and test samples, perform hardness testing, and record inspection data.
  • Control inventory transactions for purchased and finished products.
  • Communicate inspection findings and problems to supervisors.
  • Train probationary inspectors and provide ongoing guidance on inspection standards and methods.
  • Support new part launches through inspection and documentation setup.
  • Assist in meeting daily safety, quality, and productivity goals.
  • Provide daily work direction to inspectors, assign priorities for NCMs, production, receiving, final inspection, etc.
  • Instruct co-workers and lead by example across shifts.
  • Ensure clear communication between shifts and departments.
  • Monitor and communicate changes in work instructions.
  • Positively influence others and participate in problem-solving activities.
  • Gather operational data to support root cause analysis.
  • Promote company values and unity across teams.
  • Maintain accuracy in data entry and time reporting.

Education & Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum 2 years of inspection experience
  • Prior laboratory or quality inspection experience preferred
  • Formal training in PC-related applications, blueprint reading, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing

Essential Skills:
  • Inspection of set-up, in-process, and final parts
  • Capability studies, Gauge R&R, and SPC practices
  • Use of inspection equipment and gauges
  • Understanding of quality procedures and documentation
  • Coordination of inspection activities and training
