Job description

Manager, Print Market Analysis and Planning

Description -

The Market Analysis and Planning Manager is responsible for managing the team developing market projections and insights for the Print business with a primary focus on Home, Office, Large Format, and Industrial Printing markets.

The Manager will help establish leading practices in analyzing market trends, developing models, implementing internal and external insights on market drivers, and collaborating with business partners to deliver a consistent and detailed market size, industry outlook, trends and insights to support critical business decisions from an industry perspective. They will provide market scenario analyses in support of Business Unit (BU) strategy investigations and ensure industry market sizing integration across BUs, regions, corporate strategy, and finance. They will partner with the strategy and customer insight teams to surface adjacent and new market opportunities for HP's print business to pursue.

Responsibilities

  • Lead engagement with market/country and product category teams to collect inputs and shape market sizing efforts on a quarterly and half-yearly basis

  • Lead and mentor sizing team to deliver world-class market analysis and insight to our business partners

  • Define and implement new processes, tools, and technology requirements to drive continuous improvement. Drive adoption of AI across the team to improve process efficiency and accuracy

  • Establish leading-indicator-based signals that provide market category teams with timely insights on market trends and potential impact on market sizing.

  • Implement and manage scenario analyses. Conduct ad hoc analysis as needed (Tariff impact, Geopolitical conflict impact, Long Term demographics, AI)

  • Conduct quarterly share analysis to identify key insights around HP and competitor performance. Publish quarterly management-level dashboard to share key insights

  • Establish a standard competitive intelligence fact pack, working in coordination with all Print CI teams (across Category, Supplies, HW, Services). Drive adoption of AI in creating needed analysis and reporting

  • Establish a regular cadence of vendor engagement to provide industry/external market insights

  • Update and deliver profit pool market analysis.

  • Analyze and articulate market and category trends, conditions, and potential shifts over the 5-year time horizon. Develop long-term (5 years) market category forecast for hardware units and revenues, installed base, services, and software

  • Partner with the Modeling and share reporting teams

  • Lead engagement with some of our secondary vendors (IDC, Oxford Economics, Keypoint, etc.)

  • Present to senior leaders/owners regular deliverables and ad-hoc actionable insights based on robust, data-based analyses

  • Partner with the strategy and customer insight teams to surface adjacent and new market opportunities for HP's print business to pursue

  • Develop and manage large data sets with detailed market size granularities including geographies, customer segments, and channels

Education and Key Experience Required:

  • Master of Science (MS) in Marketing, Finance, Economics, or related field; Master of Business Administration (MBA) preferred

  • 5+ years marketing, finance, project management, business planning, or operational experience

  • Ability to operate and succeed in ambiguous environments.

  • Familiarity with the printing business and understanding of printing solutions from HP and competitors.

Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • Experience in collaboration with business partners ranging from individual contributors to executives

  • Solid executive communication skills - written and verbal with a strong.

  • Understanding of analytical tools including time-series modeling, regression analyses, and Monte Carlo simulation

  • Understanding of statistical modeling tools (Phyton, R, etc.)

  • Familiarity with SQL and Microsoft Office, including strong working knowledge of Excel

  • Strong problem-solving abilities
