Job description

Yamaha has an excellent opportunity for a Performance Engineer to join our Marine Testing team in Kennesaw, GA. The Performance Engineer will lead all aspects of new product testing from project kick-off through production. Responsibilities include collaborating with Product Management to define and quantify performance requirements, translating customer expectations into measurable specifications to developing and overseeing comprehensive test plans that ensure all requirements are achieved.
What you'll be doing:
  • Create measurable specifications that quantify Product Management's product requirement for New Product Development (NPD) projects.
  • Create and execute Design Verification Plans and Reports (DVP/R) to ensure validation of the product requirements, tailored for mid-sized to large projects.
  • Collaborate with Testing team resources to develop data acquisition systems to gather benchmark data and to execute DVP/R.
  • Analyze and interpret data to explain results to technical and non-technical staff.
  • Work with testing facilities to schedule timely execution of the DVP/R
  • Support testing team with hands-on instrumentation, laboratory, and on-water testing focusing on more complex tasks.
  • Guide and share knowledge with junior engineers, helping them improve and stay updated on industry trends.
  • Lead all testing activities for assigned projects, operating under general guidance from the Testing Manager and daily direction from the Project Leader; manage multiple timelines while coordinating with Testing leadership to secure necessary personnel and budget resources.

What you need to be successful:
  • 3 to 7 years of new product development experience, preferably in the Marine industry.
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field preferred (Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline).
  • Strong understanding of the marine industry preferred.
  • Ability to inspire technical and non-technical team members to commit to targets and meet deliverables.
  • Experience with data acquisition & analysis tools. (i.e. DEWWSoft, NI, CANoe,)
  • Ability to adapt to diverse cultures.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, sometimes ambiguous environment.
