Job description

Science, Engineering, Management Solutions, LLC (Sem-Sol) is a small business located in Albuquerque, NM. The company consists of skilled scientists, engineers and technicians that specialize in directed energy and pulsed power systems.

Sem-Sol is seeking a Systems Engineer that has formalized engineering processes, but we want to take our organization to the next level. We are looking for a systems engineer who can help us integrate into larger systems and translate our capabilities into language that the Department of Defense community readily understands. In other words, we need a skilled systems engineer to give us a competitive edge in the defense contracting industry. Our ideal candidate has the combination of experience and communication skills that allow them to work with internal and external customers to achieve visible results.

Duties will include:

  • Interacting with the Department of Defense and large aerospace companies.
  • Working with the chief engineer and program managers of several projects.
  • Being responsible for the requirements generation, analysis, decomposition, and review with customers.
  • Generating and maintaining interface control documents, validation and verification plans, and test plans.
  • Manage configuration processes, perform functional analysis, detailed trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
  • Evaluate customer needs against system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility with all system interfaces.
  • Ensure the planning, organization, implementation and monitoring of requirements management processes, tools, risks, and opportunities meet Sem-Sol and contractual requirements.
  • Oversee analyses for reliability, maintainability, human systems integration on subsystem and system architecture.
  • Formalizing the system engineering approach and tools to be used at Sem-Sol.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
  • 5+ years’ experience in an engineering role.
  • Effective communicator.
  • Ability to effectively work on multiple tasks with changing priorities.
  • Experience with hardware and software development, integration, and test.
  • Formalizing the system engineering approach and tools to be used at Sem-Sol.

Desired Skills/Experience/Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in Physics, Engineering, or Math.
  • Degree or certification in systems engineering.
  • Previous experience as a systems engineer for a Department of Defense program.
  • Experience with software tools such as CATIA.
  • Experience with drawing release processes.
  • Experience with hardware and software configuration management.
