Job description

Experienced HVAC-R / Chiller Technician

KKT chillers is a global supplier of process fluid chillers and has provided customers with specialized cooling solutions for more than 30 years.

We have an immediate opening for an experienced HVAC - Refrigeration technician to join our Technical Service team!

The ideal candidate would have 3-5 years of hands-on experience working with process fluid chillers or similar commercial refrigerant equipment.

The core responsibilities of this position are as follows:

· Provide prompt, courteous and professional support to our customers and contracted service providers working on our behalf

· Communicate with team members and outside service vendors to ensure the quality of services performed. Our goal is for all work to be completed correctly the first time - eliminating the need for call backs / repeat visits.

· Provide timely updates of any findings, follow-up work, or parts needed for Warranty, Contract or T&M calls - noting the urgency of the repair and any downtime that may be required.

· Assist with inspections of incoming products, programming controllers, testing / repairing equipment and assisting Quality Coordinator with root cause analysis of returned products.

General Tasks are, but not limited to:

  • Assist and support our US based service team with any Technical, Quality or Engineering related issues.
  • Provide after-hours technical phone support (via 24-hour hotline) on a rotating schedule (typically 1 week per month).
  • Accurately complete all paperwork so that any warranty claims are traceable to the correct work order / serial number as applicable.
  • Make travel arrangements and coordinate service visits for startup of new equipment, assist with escalated service events or warranty service repairs.
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting of all service events, startups and warranty service repairs. Including providing detailed and accurate trip reports for any site visits.
  • Ensure all checklists (Pre-startup, Commissioning and Planned Maintenance) are reviewed and uploaded to our Service Database.
  • Answer phones and retrieve voicemails.
  • Read and respond to emails.
  • Represent KKT chillers in a professional manner while interacting with our customers.
  • Adhere to our company’s ISO requirements and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Personal Skills

  • Self-Starter, able to work with minimum supervision.
  • Performance driven - willing to seek answers, solve issues, learn new requirements.
  • Strong technical capabilities
    • Ability to read and understand drawings, schematics and other technical documentation to support our equipment.
    • Experience troubleshooting and making repairs to HVAC-R equipment
    • Experience with troubleshooting, diagnosing and making repairs to electrical equipment and working with industrial controls.
    • Familiarity with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)
    • Experience working with closed loop, pressurized fluid systems
    • Experience with chillers and/ or other industrial equipment.
  • Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal
  • Working knowledge of MS office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, etc.)
  • Experience with Salesforce and QuickBooks
  • Team oriented, but also independent whenever required
  • Minimum 2-year degree or at least 3-5 years in a similar position in the chiller industry.
  • HVAC-R certification
  • EPA Certification - Universal
  • Valid Driver’s license
  • Office - 85% / Travel - 15%
