Job description

Job Description
This position is on the Enterprise Integrations team as a principal engineer responsible for development and support of Enterprise Integration services and platform management. This role involves working as part of the enterprise team, collaborating closely with multiple engineering and product teams, and gaining exposure to various business processes and workflows. As a member of Enterprise API & Integrations teams, there will be opportunities to cross-skill and expand into other API Platforms.
We are seeking a hands-on engineer with strong experience in IBM ACE12/13, MQ Series, along with knowledge of API design, development and Integrations. This individual will work closely with the development team and other stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of business and technology initiatives in alignment with Quest standards, architecture and security best practices.
Responsibilities
  • Be a part of a Scrum team working on API development and integrations using IBM Application Connect Enterprise 12/13, API Connect, DataPower and MQ
  • Design and develop IBM Application Connect Enterprise Applications/APIs using IBM MQ Series
  • Take lead on design and architecture discussions and decisions, working closely with architecture and other stakeholders
  • Designing and developing APIs using API Connect and Datapower.
  • Understand HL7 message model and use the IBM App Connect message mapping function.
  • Design APIs following RESTful API design principles and API-led architecture
  • Employing API led Microservices design principles and standard methodologies
  • Work closely with architects on architecting integration solutions and designing API-led architectures
  • Build consistent reusable APIs implementing security, custom analytics, throttling, caching, logging, request and response modifications etc. for API management platform
  • Establish a strong culture of security awareness and ownership to establish the DevSecOps practices within API Dev Lifecycle
  • Define and measure key performance indicators to track and monitor API consumptions by App developer and API product
  • Responsible for debugging within a complex environment that includes multiple connected systems
  • Responsible for operational reporting, health monitoring of the application
  • Ensure the reusability of all the components developed
  • Work with other leaders and stakeholders within the organization, business, security, and other stakeholders in driving API solutions
  • Evangelize, mentor, and coach other team members utilizing API Connect and/or Application Connect Enterprise 12/13. Assist in production support.

Qualifications
Required Work Experience:
  • A minimum of 15 years' experience in IT, including a minimum of 8 years' experience in IBM API Connect, Datapower as well as experience with Application Connect Enterprise or IIB.
  • Minimum + experience in API management and Integration space, delivering quality APIs and reusable integration solutions
  • 5+ years' experience working in Agile/Scrum model
  • Understanding of Minimum Lower Layer Protocol (MLLP).
  • Experience with a wide variety of continuous integration and source control tools
  • Proven track record of successful implementation of all project life cycle stages from requirements gathering through implementation and enhancements
  • Knowledge of API security including OIDC and OAuth2.0 concepts
  • Experience with designing APIs as products and building API-led architecture
  • Experience in building APIs for B2B, B2C product solutions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate with team members at various levels, including business leaders
  • Experience with Github, Github actions and pipeline deployments.

Preferred Work Experience & Professional Licensing:
  • Healthcare domain experience, Enterprise, Legacy application integration experience is a plus
  • Experience HL7 and FHIR is a plus
  • 5+ years' experience with DevOps
  • Agile certification
  • API certification
  • Cloud certification

Knowledge:
  • Computer Science fundamentals in object-oriented (OO) design patterns, distributed databases, and data modeling techniques.
  • Proficiency in Enterprise Java programming plus one or more modern programming languages
  • Experience in development of distributed/scalable systems and high-volume transaction applications.

Education
  • Bachelor's Degree Computer Science or equivalent (Required)
