To thrive as a Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI) Specialist, you need a background in healthcare (often nursing or HIM), strong knowledge of medical terminology, coding, and clinical documentation requirements. Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems, coding software (such as ICD-10 and DRG grouper tools), and often a CCDS or CDIP certification is typically required. Effective communication and attention to detail are key to overcoming these challenges and delivering reliable integration solutions.
