What is quantum technology?

Quantum technology jobs involve working with advanced technologies that leverage the principles of quantum mechanics, such as superposition and entanglement. These roles can include research and development in quantum computing, quantum communication, and quantum sensing. Professionals in this field may work as quantum software engineers, quantum physicists, hardware engineers, or researchers, often in academic, corporate, or governmental settings. The field is rapidly evolving and requires a strong background in physics, mathematics, and computer science.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in quantum technology?

To thrive in Quantum Technology, you need a solid background in physics, mathematics, and computer science, often supported by a graduate degree in a related field. Familiarity with quantum programming languages (such as Qiskit or Cirq), quantum hardware systems, and simulation tools is typically required. Strong problem-solving abilities, analytical thinking, and effective collaboration are crucial soft skills in this rapidly evolving sector. These skills and qualifications are vital for developing, implementing, and advancing cutting-edge quantum solutions in both research and industry.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals working in quantum technology roles?

Professionals in quantum technology often face challenges such as working with rapidly evolving hardware that may lack standardized platforms, as well as the complexity of translating quantum theory into scalable, real-world applications. Collaboration across multidisciplinary teams—including physicists, engineers, and software developers—is essential, which can require strong communication skills to bridge knowledge gaps. Additionally, staying updated on the latest research and technological advancements is crucial, as the field is highly dynamic and competitive.

What is the difference between Quantum Technology vs Quantum Computing?

AspectQuantum TechnologyQuantum Computing

Job description

Crawford Mechanical Services, a Quantum Industrial company, is a leading mechanical and plumbing contractor, with operations across multiple states, specializing in large-scale commercial and industrial projects. Our team delivers innovative solutions for critical sectors, such as data centers, semiconductor manufacturing, biopharma, aviation, oil & gas, and more. We are known for our focus on cutting-edge fabrication technologies, our commitment to quality craftsmanship, our strong client relationships, and above all, our culture. "We build people" is not just a catchphrase. We are a group of innovators, creatives, and craftsmen, who push boundaries and challenge the status quo. Our culture is centered around empowering our employees to reach their full potential by providing them with opportunities for growth, development, and personal and professional advancement. "We build people" who build amazing things.
We're not looking for average technicians-we're adding to a strong industrial service team.
Our technicians work in demanding commercial and industrial environments where the expectation is simple: know your craft, solve problems the right way, and take ownership of your work.
This role is for experienced Industrial HVAC Technicians who can handle complex systems, think independently in the field, and want to work alongside other high-level professionals.
If you're a strong industrial technician looking for better work, stronger support, and a company that values technical ability-you'll fit here.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
  • Diagnosing, servicing, and repairing complex commercial and industrial HVAC systems
  • Working on large-scale equipment including:
    • Chillers
    • Boilers
    • Large RTUs
    • Air handlers
    • Cooling towers
    • Process cooling systems
  • Troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, refrigeration, hydronic, and controls-related issues
  • Performing preventive maintenance and system inspections
  • Working with BAS/controls systems and sequences of operation
  • Identifying root causes-not just replacing parts
  • Communicating directly with customers about system performance and repair recommendations
  • Documenting work clearly through service software and field technology

What Sets This Role Apart
  • You'll work on high-level industrial systems-not repetitive light commercial work
  • You'll be trusted to work independently and make decisions in the field
  • You'll join an experienced service team that holds a high standard
  • You'll work for a company that values technical skill and professionalism-not micromanagement

What We're Looking For
  • 5+ years of commercial/industrial HVAC service experience
  • Strong experience with chillers, boilers, large RTUs, and industrial systems
  • EPA Universal Certification (required)
  • OSHA 10 certification
  • Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting ability
  • Experience with BAS/controls systems preferred
  • Ability to read schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals
  • Comfortable working independently in critical environments
  • Valid driver's license with clean driving record

What You Won't Get Here
  • Disorganized operations
  • Low-level service work every day
  • Managers who don't understand the field
  • Being treated like "just another technician"

What You Will Get
  • Challenging, high-level industrial work
  • A strong team environment with experienced technicians
  • Competitive pay based on experience and technical ability
  • Full benefits package including medical, dental, vision, and 401(k)
  • Ongoing training and professional development
  • Long-term growth opportunities with a rapidly growing company

What We Offer
  • Competitive pay based on skill-not just tenure
  • Full benefits: medical, dental, vision
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Steady, high-level work (data centers, industrial, mission-critical environments)
  • Ongoing training and development-we actually invest in our people
  • A team that respects good technicians and doesn't micromanage

The pay range for this role is:
35 - 50 USD per hour (Hamilton Ct, AZ)
