Job Description:
The Petroleum Engineering department at Louisiana State University is seeking a motivated researcher or engineer to develop, test, and apply quantum computing workflow or quantum-inspired approaches to analyze datasets from sensing systems or energy-industry-relevant problems. The project may also involve signal processing, machine learning, or other computational techniques. The exact project scope may be refined based on program needs and the candidate's expertise.
100% Develop, test, and apply quantum computing workflow or quantum-inspired approaches to analyze datasets from sensing systems or energy-industry-relevant problems. Contribute to publishable research outcomes, with deliverables including technical documentation, presentations, and a journal manuscript or conference paper based on the project results.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors degree in computer science, electrical engineering, physics, applied mathematics, or closely related field.
Strong programming experience in Python and familiarity with machine learning.
Preferred Qualifications
Ph.D. in computer science, electrical engineering, physics, applied mathematics, or closely related field.
Experience with quantum algorithms, quantum computing, quantum annealing, variational quantum circuits, quantum machine learning, or quantum-inspired optimization.
Experience with quantum software frameworks such as Qiskit, PennyLane, Cirq, D-Wave Ocean, TensorFlow Quantum, or similar tools.
