Job description

We are seeking a hands-on leader with deep expertise in low-noise analog and digital electronics, RF signal processing, embedded systems, and SWaP-optimized design for quantum devices, photonics, and radio electronics. This role requires full-cycle development of precision electronics for quantum sensing, photonic systems, atomic spectroscopy, and RF applications. Candidates with experience leading teams and driving high-tech development will be strongly preferred.
Responsibilities:-Lead and contribute to the design, development, and optimization of low-noise electronics for quantum devices, photonics, RF electronics, and atomic spectroscopy.-Develop high-performance photodiode drivers, transimpedance amplifiers, low-noise servo electronics, and high-stability RF electronics for optical and atomic systems.-Design and integrate compact, SWaP-optimized embedded systems (FPGA, DSP, microcontrollers) for real-time signal processing and quantum device control.-Implement RF signal processing electronics, Software Defined Radio (SDR), and advanced communication systems for quantum and photonic applications.-Develop and optimize Phase-Locked Loops (PLL), Pound-Drever-Hall (PDH) locking electronics, PID controllers, and feedback control systems for precision laser frequency stabilization.-Design and develop thermo-electric control electronics for precision temperature stabilization of quantum and photonic devices.-Write and optimize firmware/software (C, Python, VHDL/Verilog) for embedded system control, automation, and real-time processing.-Perform high-precision RF and electronic testing, utilizing oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, phase noise analyzers, lock-in amplifiers, and network analyzers.-Provide technical leadership and mentorship, ensuring best practices in high-performance electronics design and system integration.-Collaborate cross-functionally with physicists, engineers, and product teams to define technical requirements and ensure seamless system integration.-Manage projects and development efforts, coordinating with internal teams and external partners to meet performance and timeline objectives.-Maintain detailed design documentation, test reports, and performance analyses to support product development and optimization.
Qualifications:-M.S. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, or a related field.-Proven leadership experience in high-tech product development, leading R&D teams, or managing complex engineering projects.-Hands-on expertise in developing compact, low-noise electronics and embedded systems from concept to production for quantum, photonic, and RF devices.-Expertise in analog and digital circuit design, including precision low-noise amplifiers, photodetector electronics, and high-speed signal processing.-Experience developing RF electronics, radio receivers, RF signal processing, and Software Defined Radio (SDR) systems.-Strong background in servo control electronics, PID controllers, and microwave electronics for quantum applications.-Proficiency in PCB design, simulation tools (SPICE, ADS, HFSS), and EDA software (Altium, KiCad, or equivalent).-Strong background in firmware/software development (C, Python, VHDL, Verilog) for real-time embedded control systems.-Experience with high-precision RF and electronic testing and measurement for low-phase-noise and ultra-stable systems.-Ability to troubleshoot and optimize compact, high-performance electronics for SWaP-constrained quantum, photonic, and RF applications.-Experience developing thermo-electric control electronics for precision temperature stabilization.-Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary R&D environment.-U.S. citizenship or permanent residency may be required due to export control regulations.
Preferred Qualifications:-Strong track records of leading state of the art R&D in quantum technologies, photonics, RF electronics, or high-tech hardware product development.-Expertise in atomic spectroscopy, laser frequency stabilization, optical clocks, Rydberg quantum technologies, Rydberg sensors and receivers.-Background in low-phase-noise synthesizers, frequency comb electronics, and advanced RF signal processing techniques.
