Job description

PsiQuantum's mission is to build the first useful quantum computers: machines capable of delivering the breakthroughs the field has long promised. Since our founding in 2016, our singular focus has been to build and deploy million-qubit, fault-tolerant quantum systems.ย

Quantum computers harness the laws of quantum mechanics to solve problems that even the most advanced supercomputers or AI systems will never reach. Their impact will span energy, pharmaceuticals, finance, agriculture, transportation, materials, and other foundational industries.ย

Our architectureย and approachย isย based on silicon photonics. Byย leveragingย the advanced semiconductor manufacturing industry, including partners like GlobalFoundries, we use the same high-volume processes that already produce billions of chips for telecom and consumer electronics. Photonics offers natural advantages for scale: photonsย don'tย feel heat, are immune to electromagnetic interference, and integrate with existing cryogenic cooling and standard fiber-optic infrastructure.ย

That approach has since been tested at the highest level of scrutiny the U.S. government applies to emerging technology, and it has held up. In 2025,ย PsiQuantumย closed aย $1 billionย funding round that valued the company atย $7 billion. In 2026, the U.S. Department of Commerce signed a $100 million Letter of Intent under the CHIPS and Science Act, followed by a $125 million agreement with DARPA under Stage C of its Quantum Benchmarking Initiative,ย PsiQuantum'sย most valuable U.S. government agreement to date. This year, we also broke ground on our utility-scale quantum computer in Brisbane, Australia, and continued building out our Chicago site. Victor Peng, our CEO, and co-founder Jeremy O'Brien, now Executiveย Chairman, lead a team and board that reflects how seriously the world is taking this build, joined this year by Intel's Lip-Bu Tan and Atomico's Niklasย Zennstrom.ย

PsiQuantumย also develops the algorithms and software needed to make these systems commercially valuable. Our application, software, and industry teams work directly with leading Fortune 500 companies, includingย Airbus,ย Lockheedย Martin, Mercedes-Benz, Boehringer Ingelheim, and Mitsubishi Chemical, to prepare quantum solutions for real-world impact.ย

Quantum computing is not an extension of classical computing. Itย representsย a fundamental shift, and a path to mastering challenges that cannot beย solvedย any other way. The potential is enormous, and we now haveย the funding,ย the governmentย validation, andย the sitesย under construction to make it real.ย

Job Summary:

Early commercial applications of fault-tolerant quantum computing are expected to be predominantly in computational chemistry, particularly in quantum chemistry.ย

As part of PsiQuantum's Product Management team, the Chemistry Product Manager will work closely with the Chemistry R&D, Business Development, and Industry Applications teams to define the product strategy for our initial chemistry offerings as we launch our first-generation fault-tolerant quantum computer. This strategy will identify target customers, prioritized chemistry use cases, product requirements, and business models.ย

The Product Manager will lead execution of this strategy by partnering with the Product Engineering and Chemistry R&D teams to develop, test, and launch our initial chemistry products. They will also work closely with the Business Development and Marketing teams to drive the go-to-market strategy and execution for these products.ย

To successfully engage with both prospective customers and our scientific teams, the ideal candidate will have a strong background in quantum chemistry and its industrial applications.ย

Responsibilities:

  • Lead product use case definitions (based on opportunities identified by our applications team), requirements gathering, and prioritization of quantum chemistry product opportunities through engagement with chemistry industry partners.
  • Develop a product vision and strategy for our chemistry products grounded in our research capabilities and industry assessments while guiding the research team towards new opportunities.
  • Work closely with our business development team to present product vision to chemistry customers and partners.
  • Lead the execution of the product plans with the engineering team to develop our initial chemistry products, from initial MVPs to polished products launching with our first-generation quantum hardware.ย

Experience/Qualifications:

  • PhD in computational chemistry with a strong grasp of quantum chemistry, or a Master's degree with equivalent significant experience.
  • 2+ years of product management of scientific products, spanning the major stages of product development (initial MVPs to product launch).
  • Industry experience applying computational chemistry (including quantum chemistry) to real world industry problems.
  • Experience developing, commercializing, or deploying AI/ML-enabled products for chemistry, materials science, or drug discovery (preferred).
  • Demonstrated verbal, written and presentation skills.
  • Proven team player with an ability to work effectively across departments, sites, and time zones.ย
  • Detail oriented, data driven problem solver, with an analytical mindset.ย
  • Ability to work independently and contribute in a fast-moving start-up environment.ย
