1st shift (United States of America)Please review the following job description:As a senior member of the Market & Liquidity Risk Management (MRLM) team within the Risk Management Organization (RMO), provide senior management with independent quantitative and qualitative assessments that strengthen valuation governance, market risk oversight and enterprise decision-making. This role provides leadership and active participation in governance committees across Trading Market Risk, Counterparty Credit Risk, Profit and Loss (P&L) attribution and Independent Price Verification (IPV), while promoting Truist's compliance with Board-stated risk appetite, regulatory standards and industry best practices across securities and derivatives portfolios within Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB), Corporate Treasury and Mortgage.

The following is a summary of the essential functions for this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time.

  • Support the company's strategic direction for Independent Price Verification (IPV) and Profit and Loss (P&L) attribution. Ensure that IPV practices are in line with industry best practices, regulatory mandates and the established risk appetite.
  • Supports the development of the department's effectiveness as an independent risk management function and ensures that the respective lines of business and functional areas align with the team's oversight framework.
  • Maintain product control and valuation oversight for trading and banking book activities which incorporate ongoing quantitative and qualitative risk assessments. Partner with ongoing compliance efforts for regulatory requirements/guidance.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with regulatory rules (Basel III, Market Risk Rule, FRTB, Volcker Rule, Swap Dealer Rule Initial Margin, SCCL, etc.) and guidelines pertaining to market, liquidity and credit risks. Directly and indirectly liaise with senior internal and external staff in relation to regulatory matters.
  • Key members of the MRLM team in measuring, monitoring, and analyzing the organization's market risk exposure using P&L/Risk attribution, stress testing, and scenario analysis. Oversee daily market risk limit and exception reporting while ensuring the appropriate levels of awareness and communication within the organization.
  • Utilize strong quantitative, financial and statistical experience to develop and maintain the framework (systems, models, processes, limits, policies and procedures) used for calculating and reporting daily risk levels (Value-at-Risk 'VaR', Greeks, stress tests, Potential Future Exposure 'PFE', Credit Valuation Adjustment 'CVA', etc.) using complex quantitative risk models.
  • Provide analytical direction, expertise, advice as well as management support to the various Truist trading teams.
  • Work seamlessly with other teams across the MLRM department on inter-dependent issues such as IPV and valuation/hedging analyses. Also liaise with business and control partners including operations, collateral management, marketing/sales, trading, quantitative research, model development, internal/external audit, legal and compliance.
  • Represent the MRLM control discipline across various senior or executive level committees, working groups and strategic initiatives and/or projects.
  • Formulate strategies, policies and procedures while proactively overseeing consistent application, implementation, monitoring and reporting to senior management as well as partnering and/or leading ongoing compliance efforts with regulatory requirements including interaction with multiple banking supervisory agencies.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree, equivalent education, and related training.
  • 7-10 years in positions that carry increasing levels of responsibility in major financial institutions, financial services consulting, and/or regulatory agencies with a focus on IPV.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, applicable at all levels across the business. Ability to understand and communicate complex products, strategies and risk issues in succinct and easily understandable terminology.
  • Deep, hands-on product knowledge across fixed income, derivatives including rates, credit and equity, and structured products, with the ability to assess valuation, risk exposure and IPV outcomes.
  • Demonstrated understanding of quantitative models, complex applications, theories and concepts such as Independent Price Verification (IPV), Value at Risk (VaR), Potential Future Exposure (PFE), Expected Exposure (EE) and risk-based P&L attribution.
  • Significant knowledge and work experience in valuation of derivatives including CVA (Credit valuation Adjustment) and FVA (Funding Valuation Adjustment).
  • Must possess strong knowledge of risk management and control processes, especially of the applicable risk compliance regime including designing, developing and implementing risk programs and policies.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in interpreting regulations and developing and managing oversight programs for capital markets related regulations (Basel III, Market Risk Rule, FRTB, Volcker Rule, Swap Dealer Rule, etc.).
  • Self-starter, capable of operating with minimal direction; high degree of self-motivation with strong track record of execution and delivery.
  • Strong financial acumen, highly analytical and business enabler with ability to develop creative solutions to business challenges, the ability to think outside the box and see through the heart of issues, while executing with speed and excellence.
  • Possess ability to maintain a structured and flexible approach, tough yet balanced decision maker with sound judgement; must have the ability to remain calm under pressure and ability to prioritize and delegate.
  • Strong ability to form and maintain key internal and external networks and relationships.
  • In terms of supervision and decision making, while functioning within a highly integrated team, the position is also required to function in an autonomous capacity. This is a leadership position, and the teammate is required to exercise sound judgement and while he/she will receive guidance on unusual or highly complex issues; he/she has authority to exercise considerable latitude & judgment within defined policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Proficiency in data analysis, automation and visualization tools such as SQL, Python, Tableau or Power BI to support scalable risk reporting, control enhancement and data-driven decision-making.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in IPV, capital markets, market/liquidity/credit risk and held a leadership position at a $150+ billion financial institutions.
  • Experience interacting with banking and industry regulators.
  • Advanced degree with specialization in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Math, Business Administration or related fields.
  • 7-10 years of experience in financial risk management of trading and non-trading risks.
  • Formal credit, market risk, and/or product control training.
  • Professional certifications (e.g. Financial Risk Manager or CFA).
