As a Forward Deployed Engineer at RXO you will partner directly with one of our largest automotive customers. In this role, you'll embed within customer operations to identify inefficiencies and design AI-driven solutions that improve performance, visibility, and decision-making in real time.
This is a highly visible, customer-facing role that blends engineering, operations, and strategy - ideal for someone who enjoys solving real-world problems and seeing their work deployed in live environments.
What your day-to-day will look like:
  • Partner with customer stakeholders on-site to understand operational challenges and identify opportunities for AI-driven solutions
  • Design, build, and deploy machine learning models to improve forecasting, routing, and supply chain performance
  • Develop automation tools to reduce manual workflows and increase operational efficiency
  • Translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Integrate AI solutions into existing systems such as TMS, WMS, and ERP platforms using APIs and modern cloud tools
  • Monitor performance of deployed solutions and continuously iterate to drive measurable improvements
  • Act as a bridge between RXO's technology, product, and operations teams to deliver scalable solutions
  • Navigate high-stakes environments where system uptime impacts production lines
  • Drive adoption at the floor level and navigate ambiguity with confidence
  • Identify inefficiencies and independently prototype solutions

At a minimum, you'll need:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Operations Research, or a related quantitative field
  • 3+ years of experience in data science, AI/ML, or advanced analytics
  • Strong command of statistics and optimization techniques to drive operational improvement
  • Advanced proficiency in Python, SQL, PowerBI/Tableau, and CPLEX, with hands-on experience in ML, Agentic AI, and GenAI platforms and frameworks (GCP tech stack preferred)
  • Proven track record of deploying predictive AI models and optimization algorithms to solve business problems
  • Experience designing and implementing automated workflows and AI-driven solutions to optimize business processes
  • Proficiency in TMS (Oracle OTM preferred), WMS/YMS, and ERP workflows, with experience integrating modern AI via APIs into legacy systems
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders
  • Be independent, own your work and think, act and build fast

It'd be great if you also have:
  • 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Operations Research, or a related quantitative field
  • Experience in supply chain, logistics, or transportation operations
  • Background in a customer-facing or consulting role
  • Proven track record of delivering AI-driven solutions that drive measurable business impact
  • Proven track record of monetize analytical insights by transitioning AI solutions from R&D to product design and delivery
  • Measurable financial impact on operational performance through stakeholder engagement and independent execution
