Job Description:

We are seeking a mid-senior level Qualys Platform Engineer / Subject Matter Expert to join a team of engineers supporting enterprise vulnerability detection and compliance capabilities. This role provides hands-on engineering and platform ownership for Qualys VMDR, Cloud Agent operations, and Policy Compliance, working collaboratively within a Qualys SME team to ensure platform stability, coverage, automation, and operational excellence.

This is a individual contributor role with no people-management responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a Qualys SME within a team of Qualys platform engineers, collectively supporting and advancing VMDR and Policy Compliance capabilities.
  • Administer, configure, and optimize Qualys VMDR, Cloud Agents, and scanner operations across Windows and Linux environments.
  • Ensure reliable asset coverage, agent health, scan performance, and data quality.
  • Analyze vulnerability and compliance findings and partner with infrastructure, application, and security teams to drive timely remediation.
  • Contribute to automation and integrations using Qualys APIs and scripting (Python, PowerShell, Bash).
  • Support and enhance ServiceNow integrations for vulnerability intake, tracking, and remediation workflows.
  • Participate in platform monitoring, incident response, upgrades, change management, and root cause analysis.
  • Produce and maintain documentation, dashboards, and reporting in support of operational, audit, and leadership needs.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of IT security or systems engineering experience, with 3+ years focused on Qualys platform engineering.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Qualys VMDR, Cloud Agent deployment, and Policy Compliance in an enterprise environment.
  • Solid understanding of the vulnerability management lifecycle, including detection, prioritization, remediation, and validation.
  • Strong Windows and Linux/Unix systems knowledge with working understanding of network-based and authenticated scanning.
  • Experience with automation, scripting, and Qualys APIs, including integrations with ServiceNow or similar platforms.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively within a team-based engineering model while independently owning complex technical deliverables.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills.

  • Experience contributing to scaled vulnerability management programs or shared-service security platforms.
  • Relevant Qualys or security certifications.
