Job description

The Quality Engineer is responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the company's Quality Management System (QMS). Reporting to the Quality Manager, this role partners with cross-functional teams to establish standardized quality processes, ensure compliance with applicable industry standards, and drive continuous improvement throughout manufacturing operations. The Quality Engineer also supports supplier quality initiatives, internal audits, corrective actions, and quality system deployment across multiple Aalberts facilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Support the development, implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Develop, maintain, and control quality documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, quality manuals, and related documentation.
  • Partner with the Quality Manager to establish quality objectives, key performance indicators (KPIs), and governance processes for the quality management system.
  • Lead or participate in cross-functional teams to implement quality initiatives, support new product introductions, and resolve manufacturing or process-related quality issues.
  • Coordinate and support quality standardization efforts across multiple Aalberts locations through travel, collaboration, and process audits.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards, including ASME Section VIII requirements and other customer or regulatory specifications.
  • Support supplier quality activities, including supplier qualification, audits, performance monitoring, and corrective action follow-up.
  • Plan, conduct, and maintain internal audit programs to ensure ongoing compliance and readiness for customer and regulatory audits.
  • Assist with inspection activities, nonconforming material investigations, and the Return Material Authorization (RMA) process.
  • Lead or support containment activities, root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), and 8D problem-solving for internal and external quality concerns.
  • Analyze quality data and trends to identify improvement opportunities and recommend corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Production, Supply Chain, Sales, and Leadership to improve product quality and manufacturing performance.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives using Lean manufacturing and problem-solving methodologies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements
Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Quality Engineering, or a related technical field required. Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
Experience
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in a Quality Engineering role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience developing, implementing, or maintaining Quality Management Systems (QMS).
  • Experience supporting supplier quality, internal audits, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Experience working in an ASME-certified manufacturing environment preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of Quality Management Systems and quality engineering principles.
  • Working knowledge of ASME Pressure Vessel Code and ASTM material specifications preferred.
  • Familiarity with CAPA processes, root cause analysis, and 8D problem-solving methodologies.
  • Strong understanding of document control and quality system documentation.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and quality management software.
Certifications
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or other quality-related certification preferred.
Travel
  • Ability to travel periodically to Aalberts facilities, suppliers, and customer locations as business needs require.
