Quality Assurance Laboratory Technician I
This position supports a 24/7 manufacturing operation and follows a non-rotating Pitman Shift Schedule.
  • Day Shift: 6:00 a.m. - 6:30 p.m. or
  • Night Shift: 6:00 p.m. - 6:30 a.m.

Pay: $21.00 per hour / $1.00 Shift Differential
The Quality Laboratory Technician I is responsible for performing quality control testing on raw materials, work-in-progress, finished goods, engineering trial products, and customer returns to ensure compliance with H.B. Fuller quality standards. This role supports production operations by providing accurate and timely test results, maintaining laboratory equipment and supplies, and ensuring compliance with all safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
70% - Quality Control Testing & Analysis
  • Perform quality testing on Work-in-Progress (WIP), Finished Goods, and Engineering Trial products according to established Quality Control Inspection Plans.
  • Verify the validity of test results and accurately enter data into SAP and other quality management systems.
  • Ensure all test results and related quality data are accurately recorded, maintained, and reported in applicable quality records, databases, and customer portals.
  • Evaluate, report, and appropriately identify Non-Conforming and Engineering Trial materials in accordance with site procedures.
  • Test expired Finished Goods as required and provide recommendations to Quality Leadership regarding shelf-life extension or disposal.
  • Inspect and test customer-returned products and communicate findings to Quality and Engineering teams within established timelines to support corrective action investigations.
  • Generate Customer Certificates of Analysis (COAs) through SAP and submit documentation to customer portals as required.
  • Maintain and manage retained samples in accordance with established retention procedures.
  • Communicate product quality concerns and testing results to Production and other stakeholders in a timely manner.
20% - Laboratory Operations & Equipment Management
  • Maintain laboratory equipment through routine calibration, verification, cleaning, and preventive maintenance activities.
  • Monitor laboratory inventory levels and coordinate replenishment of testing supplies to ensure uninterrupted operations.
  • Participate in laboratory organization and housekeeping activities to maintain a clean and efficient work environment.
  • Communicate shift activities, critical quality issues, equipment concerns, and schedule updates to laboratory personnel and leadership through established communication channels.
10% - Safety, Compliance & Continuous Improvement
  • Adhere to all Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain a safe work environment by following safety protocols and utilizing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and participate in problem-solving activities.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by the Quality Supervisor or Process/Quality Engineer.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Associate degree, technical diploma, or coursework in Chemistry, Chemical Technology, or a related scientific field preferred.
Experience
  • Previous laboratory experience required; experience within a chemical manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Experience working in a controlled laboratory environment.
  • Familiarity with quality systems, testing procedures, and documentation practices.
  • Experience using SAP or similar ERP systems preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow work instructions and testing procedures.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to communicate effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Familiarity with Disciplined Process Improvement or continuous improvement methodologies preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel occasionally, if required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, and geographic location.
The salary for this role is $21.00 per hour.
