Crawford Industries, now a part of Spartech, LLC has an opening for a Quality Manager on our team in Crawfordsville, IN. The Crawfordsville operation of the organization specializes in extruding and converting flat plastic sheet. Plastic sheet may have graphics added and the die cut into license plates, the “lamp shade” used in veterinary clinics, signage, file folders, 3-ring binders, covers for school date books, for example. We reuse our scrap plastic whenever possible to create our environmentally friendly products. Come join our team as they extrude plastic sheet to help create all kinds of products for our customers.

We are currently looking for a Quality Manager to join our team full-time to support our variety of customers. This position will manage the overall quality systems and product testing conducted for the Spartech, LLC production facility located in Crawfordsville, IN. The position will be responsible for the supervision of the Quality lab personnel.

  • Responsible for site certification of ISO 9001.
  • Manages the IS0 9001 systems at our Crawfordsville manufacturing site.
  • Coordinates Quality audits between the plant and the Corporate innovation center in St Louis.
  • Oversees manufacturing-related processes, insuring they are in control and all products produced at the facility meet the requirements of the end-use customer.
  • Ensures that process conditions are monitored and controlled for product consistency and according to the specified conditions.
  • Ensures that products and process changes are made only according to the sequence of activities specified in the Quality Management Systems (QMS) process.
  • Oversees the testing in accordance with Spartech Lab Performance Policy and applicable Mil-Specifications so that all product grading is accomplished in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Represents the plant and Spartech in all aspects of professional dealings with customers (including on-customer site), the technology community and the commercial group.
  • Resolves and communicates on customer complaints and handles technical and quality questions from internal and external sources.
  • Coordinates investigation and corrective action on all plant-related customer complaints.
  • Uses Lean/Six Sigma, FMEA, and 5S tools to drive continuous improvement across our business.
  • Assesses quality training needs and provides training to all site employees.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Required Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or related experience
  • Minimum 5-7 years quality management experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Minimum 5-7 years managing direct reports.
  • Experience working with Cross Functional teams.
  • Experience with managing QMS & EHS procedures.
  • Good computer skills with Microsoft, SAP experience a plus
  • Good problem-solving skills

This position reports to the Director of Quality.
