Job description

The Quality Technician is responsible for conformity to internal and customer specifications. They are required to perform 1st piece inspection of production parts and approval of incoming and outgoing products. The technician also works to improve plant wide quality communication bi-departmentally by providing information to employees about defects and customer complaints.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma a must
  • Basic knowledge of Excel, Word, Power-point and some Access desirable.
  • Minimum of 3 years quality assurance experience.
  • Able to read and understand blue prints
  • Must be knowledgeable in use of measuring equipment (calipers, micrometers, pi tape, dial indicators etc.)
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Knowledge of working with the ISO 9000 Quality Management System a plus
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques a plus

Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing quality assurance and control throughout the company.
  • Responsible for the care of quality inspection equipment in the plant and warehouse.
  • Inspects for internal compliance with established specifications.
  • Audits departmental processes to ensure procedures are followed and all pertinent documentation is completed.
  • Inspects and documents the returned goods from customers accurately.
  • Notifies management of any quality issues that affect production or customer
  • Inspect outgoing material before shipment.
  • Works with department supervisors and company management to Identify and correct product/process areas of concern
  • Must be able to perform ISIR and PPAP’s
  • Understanding of the calibration of quality measuring equipment
  • Communicates and assists in correcting customer complaints regarding quality.
  • Documents quality information into established spreadsheets
  • Practices good housekeeping skills throughout the quality department and associated areas
  • Reports to the Quality Manager.
