Job description

Job Summary

We are currently seeking a Quality Supervisor (Inspection) for our Macomb, MI Location.  This role will require an individual that is comfortable in a high paced dynamic and challenging environment.  This role will report directly to the Site Quality Manager.  The acceptable candidate will have strong knowledge of Quality Inspection and Engineering.  Shall be capable of reading and interpreting customer blueprints.  Has advanced manufacturing knowledge of the techniques, tools, principles, and procedures involved in GD&T and precision measurement. Shall manage and supervise the site quality inspectors (20+ employees, days and night shift).  Ensure the site maintains the Quality manual that documents the written procedures, and other documentation necessary to support the development, implementation, maintenance, and control of the TGSM Quality System.  Additionally, this leader will be a strong people-oriented engaging professional who can work with minimal direction, has strong interpersonal skills, and has the ability to successfully collaborate across organizations and functions.  This leader will also be self-motivated and have a strong passion for Quality. 

Duties/Responsibilities
  • Manage day-to-day inspection staff providing administrative management as well as training for Final Inspection, Gage Control, Receiving Inspection, First Piece Inspection, Metallurgical Lab Tech,  GMM, and CMM Inspection Teams to ensure proper staffing is in place to deliver high quality products on time.
  • Set objective measurable expectations of personnel and communicate desired performance levels.  Assign and delegate tasks to personnel.  Monitor employee development and coach/train as required for identified behavioral or technical improvement opportunities.
  • Attend daily Tier 3 meeting and provide updates and follow-up on assigned tasks.
  • Ensure proper management and communication/escalation of customer issues to Site Quality Manager and Executive Management as required.
  • Support daily material review board dispositions in support of customer concession submissions.
  • Act as the lead to drive continuous improvement through identifying and implementing  measurement systems that improve efficiency and improve inspection capacity.
  • Support new program launches and help to develop inspection plans to ensure adherence to customer specifications.
  • Manage the Calibration and Metrology teams to ensure instruments and gauges are verified and validated per scheduled periodic intervals
  • Manage the Verification In Process procedure, updating it as necessary to improve efficiency in the shop and ensure a solid feedback loop is in place to improve throughput
  • Manage Inspection Stamps, ensuring individuals are qualified to accept product
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Proficiency in blueprint interpretation with strong GDT knowledge.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and confer with Management or Engineering staff to determine quality and reliability standards.
  • Other duties as required.
Qualifications
  • Strong human leadership skills, empathy, and proven coaching ability.
  • Strong ability to prioritize multiple issues under pressure and continuously lead change
  • Bachelor's Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM)
  • 6+ years of relevant work experience
  • Strong knowledge of GDT and ability to develop and institute inspection requirements necessary to satisfy requirements.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills with ability to interface with an organization at all levels.
  • Excellent problem solving and ability to train engineer in the use of basic, intermediate, and advanced quality tools.
  • Genuine self- guided work ethic and natural attention to detail
  • Strong AS9100 Experience
  • Proficiency in utilizing Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook. 
  • Experience with New Product Introduction and Program Start-up
  • Proven track record of understanding and managing First Article Inspection
  • ASQ certifications preferred
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to remain seated for long periods of time while working on a computer or documentation, etc.
  • Must have manual dexterity to operate computer keyboard and standard office equipment
  • Must be capable of withstanding long period of viewing data on a computer screen and/or paper format
