Job description

Quality Engineer
The Quality Engineer is responsible for supporting and improving the Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring product conformity, driving corrective actions, reducing risk, and supporting manufacturing operations in a fast-paced aerospace and defense manufacturing environment. This role works closely with Operations, Engineering, Manufacturing, Inspection, Suppliers, and Customers to ensure compliance with AS9100, customer requirements, and internal procedures.
The Quality Engineer serves as both a technical resource and a problem solver focused on product quality, process improvement, risk mitigation, and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
  • QMS amp; Compliance: Support compliance with AS9100D, customer requirements, and internal procedures. Participate in internal, customer, and certification audits, ensuring all quality documentation and records are audit-ready.
  • Production amp; Process Control: Provide floor-level quality support for machining, flow forming, assembly, and inspection. Review routers, travelers, and customer flow-downs to verify process compliance and support AS9102 First Article Inspections (FAIRs).
  • Root Cause amp; CAPA: Investigate nonconforming material, support MRB activities, and lead root cause analysis (5-Why, Fishbone, Process Mapping). Generate, manage, and verify the effectiveness of Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
  • Metrology amp; Inspection Support: Collaborate with inspection teams to interpret engineering drawings and GD amp;T requirements. Support gage calibration systems, review inspection data, and assist with CMM programming/process improvements where applicable.
  • Supplier amp; Customer Interface: Serve as a point of contact for customer quality issues and investigations. Support supplier quality oversight, including source inspections, supplier evaluations, and supplier SCARs.
  • Metrics amp; Continuous Improvement: Track, analyze, and report on key quality metrics (Scrap, Rework, FPY, COPQ). Develop dashboards for management reviews and utilize data to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or related technical field preferred. Equivalent manufacturing and quality experience may be considered.
  • 3+ years of experience in aerospace, defense, machining, forging, or manufacturing quality environment preferred.
  • Experience with AS9100 quality systems strongly preferred.
  • Experience with corrective actions and root cause analysis required.
  • Experience interpreting engineering drawings and GD amp;T preferred.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen due to the nature of the work, compliance with federal contracts, and exposure to ITAR/EAR-regulated technical data.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and Project)
  • Experience with ERP/QMS systems preferred.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

  • Vibration, or works near moving mechanical parts and high, precarious and congested places
