Sterling Engineering is seeking a senior-level Quality Engineer IV to lead quality initiatives across manufacturing, engineering, suppliers, and customers. This position plays a critical role in driving continuous improvement, reducing defects, improving manufacturing processes, and ensuring customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate has a strong background in quality systems, root cause analysis, lean manufacturing, and New Product Introduction (NPI) within an industrial manufacturing environment.

Job Duties:
  • Lead customer quality investigations, including containment, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and customer communication.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives utilizing 8D, DMAIC, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, DOE, SPC, MSA, and statistical analysis.
  • Support APQP, PPAP, FMEA/PFMEA, Control Plans, and process validation activities.
  • Lead quality planning and support New Product Introduction (NPI) from concept through production launch.
  • Analyze quality data, KPIs, COPQ, scorecards, and business intelligence tools to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Support supplier quality, warranty, field quality, rework, and manufacturing issue resolution.
  • Partner with Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, Supply Chain, and Customers to improve product quality and manufacturing performance.
  • Implement error-proofing and process improvements to reduce waste and improve efficiency.
  • Mentor Quality Engineers and provide technical guidance on complex quality issues.
  • Support ISO 9001 compliance and quality management system initiatives.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, or a related technical field preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of quality engineering experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Candidates without a degree may qualify with 10+ years of relevant quality experience, including at least 4 years in a customer-facing quality role.
  • Strong experience with customer quality, quality systems, and manufacturing process improvement.
  • Must have knowledge of 8D, DMAIC, A3, FMEA/PFMEA, APQP, PPAP, SPC, MSA, DOE, Control Plans, Lean Manufacturing, and Root Cause Analysis.
  • Must have Experience with ISO 9001, ERP/MES systems, digital Quality Management Systems (QMS), and Business Intelligence tools.
  • Lean Practitioner, Six Sigma Green Belt, or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and project management skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% as needed.
