Job description

Position Summary


Teal Drones, a wholly owned subsidiary of Red Cat Holdings, is looking to fill an immediate position as a full-time Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE). Teal is a rapidly growing technology company focused on creating world-class system solutions serving a broad range of applications forth design and development of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS drones) for use in defense, public safety, and other government security organizations.

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Supplier Quality Engineer to ensure the quality and reliability of all materials and components provided by our suppliers.  The Supplier Quality Engineer will collaborate with suppliers, internal teams, and cross functional departments to drive continual improvement, maintain compliance with quality standards and support the production of high-quality products. 

This role requires strong technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and the ability to foster effective supplier relationships. This role plays a key part in supplier selection, qualification, re-evaluation and ongoing performance management.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Develop, implement, and manage supplier quality processes.
  • Collaborate with Purchasing and Engineering teams during supplier selection, qualification, and onboarding.
  • Conduct supplier audits and assessments (remote and on-site) to evaluate capabilities and compliance with quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001, AS9100).
  • Work hand in hand with incoming inspection processes and develop appropriate sampling plans and inspection criteria.
  • Monitor supplier performance through KPIs (e.g., PPM, OTD, NCRs) and drive continuous improvement initiatives.  Maintain accurate records of supplier quality performance, audit findings, and corrective actions.  Prepare reports for management reviews and quality meetings.
  • Participate with suppliers to develop robust Root Cause/Corrective Action plans (RCCA) to mitigate supplier-related quality issues.
  • Work with suppliers to ensure proper documentation and compliance with specifications, drawings, and standards.
  • Support product launches, engineering changes, and new part introductions by ensuring supplier readiness and quality validation.
  • Maintain quality records and supplier documentation in accordance with internal and regulatory requirements.
  • Facilitate and support cross-functional teams in quality improvement initiatives.

Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or another related technical field.
  • 5+ years of experience in a quality engineering or supplier quality role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of quality tools and methodologies
  • Experience working with manufacturing defects (non-conformances) and mitigating them through RCCA.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.
  • 25-50% Travel required.

Additional Desired Qualifications


  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or another related technical field.
  • Ability to read technical drawings/specifications. (GD&T)
  • IPC-A-610 Certification and familiarity with IPC J-STD-001.
  • Experience working in ESD (static free) environments (e.g., ANSI S20.20).
  • Experience with supplier audits and quality systems (e.g., ISO 9001, AS9100).
  • Strong understanding of mechanical and/or electrical components and manufacturing processes.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions


  • Must be able to walk, stand, and navigate large indoor and outdoor facilities for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move materials and equipment weighing up to 25 lbs on a regular basis.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required in designated areas or when performing specific tasks, in accordance with safety protocols and company policy.
  • May be required to climb ladders, stoop, kneel, or crouch during inspections, maintenance walk-throughs, or emergency response situations.
  • Regular exposure to facility operations including noise, dust, temperature fluctuations, and industrial equipment.
  • Occasional off-hours or weekend work required for emergency facility responses or projects as needed
  • Requires frequent use of a computer and other standard office equipment for documentation, communication, and coordination tasks.
