Summary:

The Quality Engineer reports directly to the Plant Manager and represents and supports all Corporate Quality initiatives and will act as a liaison between Corporate departments (Engineering, Product Managers, Manufacturing, Purchasing and Quality Management) and the Middleton Manufacturing Plant when dealing with Quality related subject matters.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Measure/monitor assembly processes through first pass yield to drive continuous process improvement
  • Develop and implement robust corrective actions for field related concerns
  • Support Mfg. Engineering teams in the development of new process and test equipment
  • Practice the use of quality tools: 8D problem solving, Six Sigma, FMEA, control plans and SPC
  • Manage the day to day of Quality Technicians, Lead training on Quality related subject matter
  • Perform other Quality related duties and responsibilities as assigned

Requirements

Required Skills / Experience / Competencies:

  •   Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, or related technical field
  •  5+ years of Quality Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering experience preferred
  •  Knowledge/use of quality tools such as: 8D problem solving, Control Plans, and SPC
  • Technical aptitude in electronics assembly preferred
  • Proficiency in MS Office, including Word and Excel
  •  Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, at all levels of an organization


Physical/Mental Essential Functions:

  • Ability to input data into computers and departmental systems
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business documents and manuals
  • Ability to interact / communicate effectively with customers, employees, and external personal
  •  Effectively communicate in English orally and in writing.
  • Ability to identify, communicate, and help prevent potential problems
  •  Ability to solve practical problems within established parameters
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form

Work Conditions:

Work in an office environment and routinely on the Manufacturing Plant production lines. Routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Work hours are primarily on first shift and are based on Plant Production needs.
