Job description

Role Summary
The Quality Engineer is responsible for establishing, implementing, and maintaining quality standards for products and processes within the manufacturing environment. This role involves identifying opportunities to prevent defects, collaborating with cross-functional teams, performing audits, conducting root cause analysis, and ensuring compliance with both internal and external quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain quality standards for products, processes, and systems. Suggest and implement modifications to improve product quality and prevent defects in components and final products.
  • Work closely with product design, product management, and production teams to identify quality risks early in the process and collaborate on solutions that ensure the highest quality standards are met.
  • Conduct audits of production processes, raw materials, and suppliers/vendors to ensure compliance with quality standards and adherence to specifications. Report findings and recommend corrective actions when necessary.
  • Investigate product defects, non-conformities, and quality failures by performing thorough root cause analysis. Work with the team to identify corrective and preventive actions to eliminate reoccurring issues.
  • Support efforts to ensure compliance with formal external quality standards, such as ISO 9001, and assist in preparing for audits. Stay current with industry standards and regulations.
  • Ensure that all quality-related documentation, including Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), root cause analysis reports, and corrective actions, are completed accurately and in a timely manner
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities by identifying process inefficiencies, contributing to problem-solving initiatives, and supporting Lean and Six Sigma projects.
  • Participate in APQP activities to ensure product and process quality throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Develop and maintain Control Plans, Process Flow Diagrams, and FMEAs in accordance with APQP requirements.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with design, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to support APQP milestones and timelines.
  • Prepare, compile, and submit Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) documentation in accordance with customer and industry standards (e.g., AIAG).
  • Ensure timely submission and approval of PPAP packages to support new product launches or engineering changes.
  • Maintain records of PPAP approvals and revisions, ensuring traceability and compliance with quality system requirements.
  • Adhere to safety, environmental, and quality policies and procedures. Follow 5S standards to maintain a clean, organized, and efficient workspace.
Skills/Competencies
  • Basic understanding of quality principles, inspection techniques, and industry standards. Familiarity with quality tools and methodologies such as root cause analysis, failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA), and statistical process control (SPC).
  • Intermediate verbal and written communication skills. Ability to document and communicate quality issues and solutions clearly to both technical and non-technical teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to identify issues and propose solutions to improve product quality and process efficiency.
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on ensuring product specifications are met and quality standards are maintained.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment, collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve quality objectives.
  • Ability to identify, seek, and gather necessary information to support decision-making and process improvements. Eagerness to learn and stay updated on new quality tools and techniques.
