POSITION SUMMARY
Position: Quality Engineering Manager
Reports to: Director of Engineering, Quality, amp; Maintenance
Location: Easley, SC
The Quality Engineering Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the Quality Management System (QMS) while leading quality engineering activities that ensure Engineered Products consistently delivers defect-free structural steel racking systems. This position will play a key leadership role in the company's transition to an ISO 9001 certified Quality Management System by establishing compliant processes, driving standardization, and preparing the organization for certification.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Develop, maintain, and continuously improve the Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Lead the organization's transition to ISO 9001 certification, including implementation of required processes, internal audits, and certification readiness.
  • Maintain document control and quality records in accordance with ISO 9001 requirements.
  • Own customer complaints, nonconforming material (NCR), supplier corrective actions (SCAR), and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Lead supplier quality development, supplier audits, and supplier scorecards.
  • Develop inspection standards, quality control plans, and first article inspection processes.
  • Partner with Engineering during design reviews and production readiness reviews.
  • Develop quality KPI dashboards including First Pass Yield, Scrap, Rework, Supplier PPM, Internal PPM, Customer Returns, Warranty, and Corrective Action Aging.
  • Lead and develop Quality Engineers, Quality Technicians, and Inspectors.
Manufacturing Quality Engineering
  • Develop inspection standards and quality control plans.
  • Support Engineering during product development and production launch.
  • Lead dimensional validation of new products and manufacturing processes.
  • Analyze quality trends and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Ensure manufacturing processes consistently meet customer specifications.
  • Provide technical support to production on quality-related issues.
Dimensional Engineering amp; Metrology
  • Own the company's dimensional measurement strategy.
  • Develop dimensional inspection strategies for custom structural rack systems.
  • Evaluate and implement advanced metrology technologies including laser measurement systems, CMMs, laser trackers, and conventional inspection equipment.
  • Partner with Engineering to optimize tolerances and Design for Manufacturability (DFM).
  • Validate measurement systems through MSA and Gauge R amp;R.
Preferred Skills
  • Strong understanding of ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management Systems and experience implementing or maintaining ISO-compliant processes.
  • Experience leading or supporting an organization through ISO 9001 certification or surveillance audits.
  • Knowledge of internal auditing principles, document control, and risk-based thinking.
  • Strong understanding of dimensional analysis and GD amp;T.
  • Experience inspecting structural steel fabrications, weldments, and roll formed components.
  • Experience with CMMs, portable metrology equipment, laser measurement systems, and conventional inspection tools.
  • Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC), Measurement System Analysis (MSA), and Gauge R amp;R.
  • Strong root cause analysis skills using 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone, and PFMEA.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel; Minitab preferred.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Quality Engineering, or related engineering discipline.
  • 5–10 years of manufacturing quality experience.
  • 3+ years leading quality teams.
  • Experience in structural steel fabrication, welding, or roll forming preferred.
  • ASQ CQE, CMQ/OE, ISO 9001 Lead Auditor, or Six Sigma certification preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This role is based in an office setting, with most of the work conducted on the manufacturing floor supporting production and process improvements. Limited travel may be required for customer meetings or project site visits.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position involves sitting and standing for extended periods while working at a computer. Some tasks may require walking or standing on the production floor to review equipment or project builds. Must be able to work safely around moving equipment and wear required PPE. Occasionally lifting up to 35 pounds and frequent walking, standing, and bending.
