 Vierbicher is a team of professional engineers, planners, community development specialists, land surveyors and GIS specialists who provide comprehensive solutions for a wide range of projects. Our goal is to provide clients with creative consulting services and quality products, enabling them to efficiently and effectively meet their goals. As a Project Engineer 3, you are responsible for the completion and final quality assurance of all engineering design evaluations. You will be integral to the early stages of project development, providing critical input on scope, budget, and scheduling requirements. This role requires demonstrated technical proficiency, independent decision-making, and the ability to mentor junior engineering staff.


Key Responsibilities:

Project Scoping & Planning

  • Lead the preparation and definition of the scope of services for design work, ensuring clarity on client and project objectives.
  • Establish and manage design and construction schedules in coordination with Project Managers.
  • Provide expert technical review and make final recommendations regarding consultant design work and proposals.

Design Oversight & Quality Control

  • Perform final engineering design evaluations for all aspects of site and infrastructure plans (grading, utilities, stormwater, etc.).
  • Provide quality control oversight on design work developed by Project Engineers 1 and 2, ensuring technical accuracy and adherence to standards.
  • Execute complex design tasks using AutoCAD Civil 3D, maintaining a high level of technical competency.
  • Verify quantity take-offs and final cost estimates.

Compliance & Standards

  • Ensure all project designs maintain strict compliance with all applicable codes, guidelines, best practices, and internal policies.
  • Develop and finalize project specifications and technical requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned to support project and department success.

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Senior Technical Proficiency: Expert proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and demonstrated ability to solve highly complex design issues.
  • Project and Scope Management: Proven ability to effectively influence project scope, schedule, and budgetary requirements.
  • Oversight and Mentorship: Ability to provide technical review, quality assurance, and mentorship to less experienced engineering staff.
  • Professional Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills required for technical reporting, internal leadership, and external consultation with clients and senior regulatory officials.
  • Collaboration & Leadership: Ability to effectively lead and work with internal and external project team members, acting as a technical leader.
  • Construction & Review Expertise: Advanced working knowledge of construction activities and processes, often serving as a primary technical resource during construction administration.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering is required 
  • 4 + years of civil engineering experience is preferred

License or Certification Requirements

  • Professional Engineer License (PE) for the State of Wisconsin is preferred

Physical Requirements

  • This position requires sitting at a desk and working at a computer for long period of time
  • Some work may include field work
  • This position requires the ability to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds

PPE Requirements

  • Hi-Visibility clothing should be worn on job sites and in the field as necessary
