Summary/Objective
April Steel Processing, is currently seeking an individual who is passionate about quality improvement in manufacturing environments with knowledge of ISO and IATF 16949 requirements. The Quality Coordinator/Engineer will be the focal point of contact for quality issues and certifications, ensuring shift-to-shift consistency, and utilizing the data to drive continuous improvement.
Salary: $75000 to $85000
Essential Functions
• Assist in maintain the Document Control System - update all internal documentation for ISO 14001 and IATF 16949 as well as related controlled documents, both internal and external
• Conduct ongoing audits of effectiveness including containment, sorting and rework methods
• Ensure that process conditions are monitored and controlled for product consistency and according to the specifications
• Perform visual, mechanical and functional verification of parts to ensure compliance to set specifications and quality standards
• Support Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) & Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) activities
• Train personnel on proper compliance and adherence to new or updated procedures
• Use FMEA and 5S tools to drive continuous improvement within our business
• Ensure product and process changes are made only according to the sequence of activities specified in the MSA/CSA process
• Maintain all press books and specifications
• Assist in updating shift scorecards, trend charts, management review charts, IATF process measurable & management scorecards and publish as required
• Enter feed forward information from the steel mills
• Process monthly R1 Mill Claims
• Monitors status of rejected/hold material in Hold Area and tracks disposition: rework/scrap/rework to supplier
• Additional department / positional duties that the company shall assign.

Qualifications
• All candidates must be flexible regarding shifts and overtime
• Outstanding interpersonal relationship building and employee coaching skills
• A minimum of 5 years' experience as a quality professional in an industrial environment
• Demonstrated ability to lead and develop staff members
• Solid problem solving and decision making skills with the ability to effectively handle multiple tasks at one time
• Auditor Training a plus
• Use of measuring equipment (calipers, micrometers, etc.)
• Knowledge of the automotive manufacturing industry and containment processes
• Demonstrated flexibility within a fast-paced challenging environment
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Adhere to attendance policy
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has some supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
This job operates in a steel processing and distribution plant. When on the plant floor the required Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) must be appropriately worn.
Physical Demands
The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel or crouch. The employee will be on his/her feet often as frequent walking throughout the facility is required. Occasionally required to sit and work in an office, completing reports. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Must be able to climb and descend a flight of stairs, as needed.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

Required Education and Experience

• Familiarity with IATF, ISO, Document Control fundamentals & Quality Management Systems.
• Auditing experience is a plus.
• Intermediate knowledge in MS Office, including Excel, Word & Outlook.
