Job Title

Director of QualityAs the Quality Director, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and leading the quality strategy that drives continuous improvement across products, processes, and services within the Medical, Energy, Automotive, and Durables markets. You will ensure alignment with corporate objectives, enhance customer value, and establish CoorsTek as a quality leader in its markets. As the Quality Director, you will provide strategic leadership across multiple manufacturing sites and serve as a key member of the operations leadership team. The position reports directly to the VP Operations and leads Quality Managers across 6 U.S. and 1 Canadian manufacturing facilities.

Role and Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership & Program Execution
  • Contribute to the development of quality strategy and annual priorities by providing business insight, risk assessment, and operational expertise.
  • Translate business strategy into quality goals, roadmaps, policies, and execution plans for the assigned area of responsibility.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve quality programs designed to prevent defects, improve process capability, and strengthen customer confidence.
  • Drive a culture of quality excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement across the organization.
Quality Systems & Continuous Improvement
  • Lead the effective operation of the quality management system to ensure compliance with internal standards, customer requirements, and applicable industry regulations.
  • Standardize processes, metrics, and corrective action disciplines to improve consistency, reduce variation, and strengthen root cause problem solving.
  • Ensure quality systems provide:
    • Competitive market advantage
    • Increased customer confidence
    • Cost reduction through prevention-based methodologies
    • Reliable and robust business processes
  • Lead initiatives to standardize processes and improve system effectiveness across sites.
  • Champion Lean, Six Sigma, and advanced quality methodologies.
Operational Excellence
  • Establish and monitor key quality metrics, ensuring performance targets are met or exceeded within the assigned scope.
  • Coordinate quality objectives with production and engineering leaders to maximize product reliability while minimizing cost and disruption.
  • Oversee investigation of quality issues, customer complaints, nonconformances, and corrective actions to ensure timely and effective resolution.
  • Use data and trend analysis to identify emerging risks, prioritize actions, and improve business performance.
Customer & Cross-Functional Partnership
  • Interface with customers and internal stakeholders to understand requirements, resolve issues, and implement systems that create customer value.
  • Partner with leaders across functions to align quality priorities with business needs and operational realities.
  • Support implementation of approved process, reporting, and system enhancements that improve decision quality and visibility.
People Leadership
  • Lead, coach, and develop managers and senior specialists to deliver results and build organizational capability.
  • Build high-performing, engaged teams that support business growth.
  • Drive talent development, succession planning, and organizational capability in quality functions.
Digital & Systems Integration
  • Serve as a critical link between business needs and technology capabilities within quality systems.

  • Develop and implement systems that enhance customer value and satisfaction.
  • Ensure compliance with industry-specific standards and regulatory requirements in Medical, Energy, Automotive, and Durables sectors.
Scope & Accountability
  • Accountable for quality performance, budget management, resource planning, and execution of quality initiatives within a defined organizational scope.
  • Operates with meaningful autonomy within established enterprise strategy, policy, and financial parameters.
  • Operates with a high level of autonomy, guided by organizational objectives and company policy.
  • Performance measured against strategic goals, operational results, and continuous improvement outcomes.

Job Requirements:

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field, Engineering or technical degree preferred
  • 10+ years related work experience.
  • Extensive leadership experience in quality management within manufacturing environments.
  • Experience managing multiple locations across different countries and time zones.
  • Preferred industry experience in Medical, Energy, Automotive, Durables or similar manufacturing industries.
  • Knowledge of quality systems and standards relevant to Medical, Energy, and Automotive industries (e.g., ISO, IATF, FDA, etc.).

Preferred Certifications:

  • ASQ
  • Lead Auditor

Functional/Technical Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Possesses skills with Quality Management systems, Quality Engineering, and project management.
  • Proficiency with FAI/PPAP, FMEA, and Process Control Charts.
  • Strong knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC).
  • Knowledge of structured problem-solving methodologies (e.g., 8D, DMAIC, Root Cause Analysis) to drive continuous improvement and resolve complex manufacturing issues.
  • Experience with ISO 9001.
  • Minitab/JMP experience highly preferred.
  • Proven track record in driving continuous improvement and operational excellence across multiple locations.
  • Understanding of digitalization and basic application of AI in quality systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement strategy through managers, improve systems and processes, and drive measurable quality outcomes.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders across functions and levels.
  • Experience with quality standards and continuous improvement methodologies; knowledge of relevant industry or regulatory requirements preferred.
  • Experience working in multicultural environments.
  • High attention to detail and data-driven mindset.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Clear can-do mentality.
  • Ability to work effectively in diverse, cross-functional, and multicultural environments.

Role Specific Details:

  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required.
  • Location: Colorado (Golden or Grand Junction)
  • Compensation: the range posted is for the Golden, CO area and may vary based on geographical region.

Target Hiring Range

Annual Salary: USD 146,552.00 - USD 201,509.00
