Job description

We are currently seeking highly motivated individuals to fill the Quality Control Mid-Shift Lead role at our food manufacturing facility located at 90 Stemmers Lane, Westampton, NJ 08060. The Quality Control Lead is directly responsible for the general implementation, execution of food safety and quality assurance functions as assigned by the QA Manager in support of our commitment to our customers and of our Mission Statement. The QC Lead must be able to execute all quality functions and can train other team members in the proper execution of all quality tasks. The QC Lead must be able to interact across inter-departmental boundaries in a professional, proactive manner, avoiding conflicts and exemplifying a collaborative spirit.
What will you be doing:
  • Implement, and oversee all SOPs, SSOPs and GMPs for our production center.
  • Train the QC Operations team in basic food safety practices, both preventative and responsive.
  • Coach the team in understanding risk and categorizing it according to likelihood and severity.
  • Create and conduct process audits.
  • Ensure a high level of internal and external customer service. Investigate (and correct) customer issues and complaints relating to quality.
  • Engaged in inspection and testing activities to ensure high productivity and high technical integrity.
  • Provide technical and statistical expertise to teams.
  • Document and maintain quality control standards and on-going quality control objectives.
  • Implement inspection criteria and procedures.
  • Interpret quality control philosophy to key personnel within the company.
  • Provide, and oversee, inspection activity for products throughout the production cycle.
  • Apply total quality management tools and approaches to analytical and reporting processes.
  • Perform environmental test functions and applications.
  • Maintain an active role on internal continuous improvement teams.
  • Execute quality control training programs.
  • Delegate work assignments; Matches the responsibility to the person; Gives authority to work independently; Sets expectations and monitors delegated activities; Provides recognition for results.
  • Complete training as assigned.
  • Must follow company policies and procedures

Who you are and why you're right for us:
  • 2+ years of quality assurance or quality control experience in a food production facility required.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of Federal regulatory requirements and compliance required.
  • Working knowledge of USDA and FDA food regulations.
  • Ability to work in a refrigerated environment (-9º-42º Fahrenheit) for 8 or more hours and in some instances, in a dark environment. This includes executing assigned tasks in the freezer as needed.
  • Ability to communicate duties, tasks, policies and procedures to the team members through trainings and informal meetings
  • Ability to plan and prioritize workload
  • Ability to read and follow written and/or verbal instructions accurately in English
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, thoroughness, and flexibility required
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing priorities and deadlines
  • Must uphold and follow workplace safety, food safety, and production quality standards
  • Ability to work in high stress/fast-paced environment with multiple change-over's
  • Must be willing and able to work a variety of shifts and overtime as required; even on short notice
  • Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision, in group settings, be flexible and adapt to changing priorities and deadlines
