Job description

Moon Fabricating Corp. is a leader in steel fabrication, coatings, and linings, committed to delivering high-quality products while maintaining a strong culture of safety and continuous improvement. We are seeking a detail-oriented and safety-driven Quality Control / Safety Director to join our team.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspect fabricated members to ensure compliance with contract specifications, drawings, applicable codes, and company quality standards.

• Verify that received materials, parts, and consumables meet quality requirements.

• Oversee welder, fitting, rubber lining, and painting training programs.

• Witness and document welder certification testing.

• Create, record, and maintain required Quality Control (QC) documentation.

• Coordinate calibration and maintenance of welding machines and QC tools.

• Organize and maintain quality-related processes including drawing control, inspections, and testing.

• Collaborate closely with production and management teams to drive quality and safety improvements.

• Coordinate onsite safety training sessions with third-party providers.

• Promote a strong culture of safety and quality within the facility.

Qualifications

• Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification required.

• Knowledge of AWS D1.1 and D1.6 codes, and ASME Section VIII, Div. 1 standards.

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in steel fabrication.

• Minimum of 1 year of experience with coatings and applications of coatings and linings.

• Knowledge of NACE surface preparation standards (preferred, but not required).

• OSHA 10-hour certification required; additional safety certifications a plus.

• Strong proficiency with quality control tools and techniques.

• Proven ability to promote and enforce safe work practices in a shop environment.

• Strong organizational and communication skills with a demonstrated commitment to safety and quality.

Monday through Friday

7:30 AM – 4:00 PM (base schedule)
