Job description

Location: Austin, Texas – 50% travel to project sites
Reports To: Head of Engineering

Job Summary:

The QA/QC Engineer/Manager is responsible for implementing a robust QA/QC system, and managing quality oversight throughout the construction lifecycle, conducting on-site field inspections, and supervising subcontractors. This hands-on role is crucial for ensuring the work is performed according to high quality standards, maintaining technical specifications, and de-risked at handover. The ideal candidate combines field QA/QC experience with an owner-side mindset, focused on risk mitigation, documentation integrity, and lifecycle value.

In this role, you will directly contribute to safe execution, quality assurance, and successful delivery of critical utility-scale solar PV and BESS energy projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop/own the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Sabanci’s QA/QC strategy or QMS across all projects.
  • Establish, track and report key quality KPIs across the projects.
  • Review and approve Contractor Quality Plans (PQP), Inspections and Test plans (ITPs), and checklists, ensuring quality risks are identified early and proactively mitigated
  • Schedule/participate in QA/QC meetings to align quality standards and expectations with EPC contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Conduct periodic and milestone-based site walkdowns/inspections, and oversight of sub-contractors ensuring compliance with the Quality Plan (PQP) and proper installation/construction work such as:
  • MV/HV collection systems, terminations, and splices,
  • Substations, transformers, switchgear
  • Inverters, trackers, Modules, and SCADA systems
  • BESS (containers, PCS, EMS, safety systems)
  • Earthworks, grading, drainage, foundations, access roads and structural elements.
  • Review compaction reports, concrete testing results, and material submittal.
  • Maintain QA/QC documentation: Inspection reports, material submittals, test records, as-built documentation.
  • Record quality deficiencies, issue non-conformance reports (NCRs), and coordinate corrective actions with on-site teams.
  • Provide weekly/monthly reporting on quality performance and issue resolution to internal stakeholders

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, civil engineering, construction management or related discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in PV and BESS utility-scale projects, preferably solar project execution, and commissioning.
  • Strong knowledge of QA/QC systems and inspection processes on PV and BESS equipment such as PV modules, inverters, transformers, switchgears, PCS, and BESS enclosures.
  • Experience developing and managing ITPs, inspection regimes, and QA/QC documentation for PV solar and BESS projects
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written); Spanish is a plus (optional based on location).
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001, OSHA or other relevant safety standards.
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Ability to work on remote job sites and adapt to site-specific conditions.
  • Available to work at the weekends and to travel

  • Employees receive five (5) paid sick days (40 hours) at the time of hire and then five (5) paid sick days (40 hours) each year thereafter on January 1.
