Job description

Position Description:Manage, plan, coordinate, and develop AISC/ASME Shop Quality Control (QC) Plan. Implement policies and procedures necessary to support project schedule and deliver a fully compliant project. Manage and implement AISC/ASME Quality Manuals.

Essential Duties & Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage development and implementation of AISC/ASME Quality Control (QC) Plan in coordination with project team, owner/architect team and related code requirements .
  • Perform/manage Engineering responsibilities for AISC and ASME Quality Manual including material tracking and traceability, weld inspections, weld tracking, Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) Testing, weld procedures, weld testing, testing procedures, testing inspections, and non-conformance documentation.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with owners, architects, consultants, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure fully compliant project.
  • Create structure and supportive environment to develop high performing team, provide professional development opportunities, and engage in coaching and mentoring relationships.
  • Manage direct reports, deliver timely performance feedback and contribute to performance appraisals during annual performance cycle, utilizing talent management systems.
  • Manage implementation of AISC/ASME Quality Manuals in collaboration with MEP Business Line SPO department and manage updates and revisions of manuals.
  • Develop comprehensive working knowledge and understanding of project-specific contract documents (including Turner's contract, plans, specifications and applicable codes).
  • Execute project-specific QC Plan in a manner that engages all project staff, subcontractors, vendors and consultants for compliance and consistent execution.
  • Plan, chair, and participate in AISC management review.
  • Perform/manage daily quality follow-up inspections on-site as required
  • Arrange for third party testing and inspections; analyze and report results and communicate with project stakeholders as appropriate.
  • Chair or attend First Work In Place (WIP) Observation with project team.
  • Knowledgeable of project-specific engineering procedures, including document control, submissions management, creation and tracking of Requests for Information (RFIs), material samples, documentation and tracking of potential cost changes, documentation and tracking of approved change orders within budgetary requirements.
  • Contribute to project safety plan for Trades Pre-Task Plan (PTP) as related to specific inspections.
  • Understand project execution plan to manage and direct QC activities at appropriate stages of work, in line with and in support of project schedule.
  • Continually improve and apply strategies and tools to efficiently and effectively document, track, and record compliance with contract documents.
  • Expand development of QC plan as project progresses to improve quality procedures.
  • Document non-compliant materials and/or workmanship and direct team to engage with trade partners for removal and replacement of defective work. Document compliance after corrective work is completed and prior to starting any subsequent work.
  • Ensure completion of project closeout documentation and quality reports.
  • Other activities, duties, and responsibilities as assigned.
