Quality Control Technician
 

ABOUT THE ROLE

Performs quality control tests on process materials in accordance with established standards and procedures. This position will be required to conduct quality control tests within the precision standards established by ASTM and AASHTO.  The position will be required to sample various materials, report results and take action for quality deviations. Conducts in depth problem solving, detailed data and trend analysis, and troubleshooting associated with cement manufacturing.

WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Observe and enforce all Amrize Safety Standards, Advisories, and Policies.
  • Be a responsible advocate for on-the-job safety and the environment.
  • Carries out sampling and testing to ensure that material produced and shipped meet specifications and expectations.
  • Assist with the implementation and documentation of the product realization plan and related procedures and requirements for quality control.
  • Perform some service, repair, and calibration of laboratory equipment.
  • Carries out regular updates to appropriate Quality Control and Quality Assurance test databases and spreadsheets and perform analyses as needed.
  • Able to learn the basic operations of cement.
  • Provide "troubleshooting" guidance and advice for quality control actions.
  • Recommend and assist with plant changes to ensure conformance and consistency.
  • Work under general / minimal supervision; customarily works 40% of the time without direct supervision.
      

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Education: High School diploma/GED required; Post Secondary diploma/degree preferred

Required Training/Certifications:  Valid Driver's License

Travel Requirements: < 10%

Work Experience:

  • Two years of post-secondary technical education or equivalent in experience
  • Mine Safety and Health Administration Certificate (MSHA) Or the ability to obtain in 6 months through Holcim training
  • Knowledge of computers and database systems
  • Availability and willingness to work flexible hours including nights, weekends and holidays
  • This position requires as an essential function:
    • Reliability
    • Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs, climb stairs and access heights
    • Dependable attendance

  • Demonstrates a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas.  Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
