We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Aerospace & Defense Quality Control professional to lead the quality control assurance functions strict regulatory compliance, quality standards, and airworthiness for manufactured parts and repaired aviation components. They bridge stringent production criteria (AS9100) with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA Part 145) mandates, ensuring safety, traceability, and defect prevention. The ideal candidate will serve as a liaison with regulatory agencies, customers, and internal teams while fostering a culture of quality, safety, and continuous improvement for manufactured parts and all repair station operations.
Core Responsibilities
- Regulatory Compliance: Interpret and enforce FAA regulations, ensuring all repairs and manufacturing processes follow the latest revisions of maintenance manuals, Service Bulletins, and the Repair Station and Quality Control Manual (RSQCM).
- Inspections & Testing: Execute incoming, in-process, hidden-damage, and final inspections for aircraft components, assemblies, and raw materials.
- Traceability & Documentation: Review and verify work order packets, logbooks, and 8130-3 forms. Manage First Article Inspections (AS9102) and maintain meticulous traceability of materials and tooling.
- Discrepancy Management: Identify defects, initiate Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), and drive Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) to mitigate production escapes.
- Audits & Continuous Improvement: Lead internal audits, support external audits (FAA, AS9100/ISO 9001 registrars, and defense contractors), and continuously refine quality management systems.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree in quality management, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical field highly preferred.
- Certificates: An FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license and or repairman certificate, or ability to obtain; is strongly preferred and often required for signoffs.
- Experience: 3–7 years of progressive Quality Assurance/Quality Control experience within an aerospace manufacturing or FAA Part 145 MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) environment.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001, AS9100, AS9110, and FAA/EASA regulations & quality tools.
- Skills: Ability to write technical documents, read/interpret complex engineering drawings, blueprints, NDT procedures, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) specifications.
Key Performance Metrics
- Zero regulatory violations or FAA audit findings.
- Reduction in product escapes, scrap rates, and rework costs.
- Timely processing and closeout of NCRs and CAPAs.
- Accuracy and completeness of maintenance records and certification documentation.
On Going Responsibilities
- Employee Training: Develop, deliver, and manage initial, recurrent, and remedial training programs for personnel, track OJT, certifications, and compliance with the Training Program Manual.
- Repair Station Capability List: Maintain repair station capability lists, technical records, and documentation in compliance with FAA regulations and internal quality standards.
- Equipment Calibration: Ensure all precision measurement equipment (M&TE) and tooling are maintained, calibrated, and certified.
