Job description

Job Purpose
This role is responsible for the ensuring the location is in compliance with the Coastal Gulf & International Quality Management Systems and regulatory compliance.   
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Reports to the Quality Assurance Manager or the Location Laboratory Manager as deemed necessary.
  • Helps Quality Assurance Manager in the development, coordination, and supervision of the Quality Management programs and Safety Programs.
  • Helps in training, coaching, mentoring, empowering and developing team members. This includes coordinating team involvement activities to drive “continuous quality improvement” processes.
  • Run Test Method Assessment to ensure test efficiency or if modifications are needed. 
  • Test Method Witnessing.
  • Acts as a co- contributor by giving input in employee evaluations as it pertains to employee safety and quality performance.
  • Maintains the Document Control Management system including but not limited to the following; 
    • Non Conformance Reports
    • Quality Guidelines
    • Statistical Quality Control Data
    • Management of Change
    • New Equipment and existing equipment lists. 
    • Data Review 
    • Stand Operating Procedures Development  
    • Investigate and report non-conforming samples. 
  • Supervises the assurance of consistent quality testing and reporting through the development and enforcement of excellent lab practices, and procedures.
  • Helps in communicating product safety and quality standards to laboratory personnel.
  • Monitors the laboratory environment to identify areas where quality or safety procedures can be implemented or improved.
  • Communicates to management lab processes and compliance with standards deviations.
  • Supervises that all Lab instruments are up to date and calibrated.  
  • Trouble shoots daily lab quality issues. 
  • Assists in the development of new test methods. 
  • Reviews and reports and evaluate all Round Robin Data 
  • Follows up customer complaints and works together with management to correct the issues and maintain customer satisfaction. 
  • Gives support in coordinating all quality safety-related activities including protocols and testing. 
  • Any other safety, quality and lab duties as assigned by Management.
  • Read and understand all job and safety requirements in English.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures.

Additional Requirements
  • Strong working knowledge of DOT, OSHA requirements for Quality health and safety. 
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret instructional and technical materials in relating to procedures, and safety; and applicable government regulations.
  • Write applicable reports and correspondence clearly. 
  • Effectively present information and respond to questions from management and clients.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule formats.
  • Familiarity with basic computer skills including MS Word and MS Excel
  • Local travel and occasional out-of-town assignments are required
  • Must be able to work in refineries, terminals, on board marine vessels, and in a laboratory environment.
 
Qualifications
  • Must have 3 or more years of QHSE management experience. 
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Practical understanding of company quality systems.
  • Analytic thinking and troubleshooting skills with a Lean Six Sigma background a plus.
  • Strong leadership skills, and flexible interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization and in a variety of cultures – both internal and external.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills, both in creation and execution.
  • Excellent internal and external customer service skills.
  • Candidate must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Have a great work history with a track record of being responsible individual. 

Working conditions
This position is performed primarily in an office environment.  Position could be performed in both inside and outside weather conditions including extreme heat and cold.
Travel
10% of Travel is required.
