( Cosmetics and Skin Care Manufacturing)

Quality Technician

Join our team as a QC Lab Technician at The Christine Valmy Company in Pine Brook, NJ. We're looking for detail-oriented individuals to conduct QC testing on raw materials and finished skincare products. Help us ensure every product is safe, stable, and meets our quality standards. This hands-on role involves testing and improving our quality systems, contributing to our growth in natural skincare manufacturing.

Core Responsibilities

1. Laboratory testing - finished goods & raw materials

  • Perform stability testing on finished skincare products, monitoring specific gravity, viscosity, pH, and other key physical/chemical properties.
  • Conduct microbiological testing using prepared plates and other methods as required.
  • Track longterm product performance, documenting changes in color, texture, and odor over 12 weeks.
  • Compare batches against established standards and retain samples to confirm consistency.
  • Test and verify raw materials by performing physical comparisons and reviewing Certificates of Analysis (COAs) against historical records to ensure quality and uniformity.

2. Quality systems & documentation

  • Help formalize and maintain our Quality Policy and Quality Objectives.
  • Create, manage, and update product and material specifications.
  • Support a culture of Continuous Improvement by identifying trends, quality risks, and opportunities for enhancement.
  • Ensure all lab instruments are available, properly maintained, and calibrated.
  • Collect, track, and analyze quality performance data, then develop and lead action plans to improve results.

3. Quality assurance & process control

  • Implement and maintain formal systems to verify material and product conformance.
  • Establish controls, labeling, and release procedures to ensure that only inspected and approved materials move through production.
  • Partner with Production to define in-process controls, testing, and inspection points that reduce variability and catch issues early in the manufacturing process.

4. Complaints, nonconformance & recalls

  • Build and administer a clear, professional system for documenting, investigating, and resolving product- and packaging-related customer complaints.
  • Document, investigate, and resolve internal nonconformances.
  • Identify root causes and define corrective and preventive actions to eliminate recurring issues.
  • Set up monitoring and review systems to track progress and ensure issues are fully resolved.
  • Develop and maintain a product recall procedure as part of our overall quality framework.

Required skills and qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline or relevant experience
  • Strong understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP)
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience, preferably in the beauty or consumer packaged goods (CPG) industry
  • Proficiency in performing viscosity and pH measurements, density,
  • Willingness to learn new skills and work collaboratively within a small team
  • Soft Skills: Attention to detail, analytical and problem-solving skills, effective communication and teamwork, ability to manage priorities, and proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
