Effective field supervision is critical to ensure projects are executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with engineering specifications.
We are seeking an experienced Field Superintendent to oversee daily operations at job sites, managing crews, equipment, and materials to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget.
The Field Superintendent is responsible for the day-to-day supervision of field crews, operators, teamsters, and subcontractors on soil stabilization projects. While the Project Manager oversees overall project strategy, budgets, and client communication, the Field Superintendent ensures that work is executed efficiently, safely, and according to technical specifications.
This role reports directly to the Project Manager and works closely with operators, teamsters, QC staff, and logistics teams.
Key Responsibilities

- Manage daily work schedules, equipment assignments, and material usage
- Monitor work quality and compliance with engineering specifications, project plans, and safety standards
- Troubleshoot operational issues and provide on-site guidance to crews
Project Support & Coordination
- Implement the project plan developed by the Project Manager
- Coordinate with logistics and fleet teams to ensure timely delivery of equipment, materials, and supplies
- Communicate daily progress, challenges, and updates to the Project Manager
- Support QC & Field Lab Manager by providing access to test sites and assisting with field sampling/testing
Safety & Compliance
- Enforce all safety policies and OSHA regulations on job sites
- Conduct pre-task planning, job hazard analyses, and safety briefings
- Address safety concerns immediately and escalate issues to leadership as needed
- Maintain a safe work environment for all field personnel
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate daily reports on crew performance, equipment usage, material consumption, and project progress
- Document incidents, delays, or deviations from plans and communicate them to the Project Manager
- Ensure that field documentation supports project billing, compliance, and QA/QC requirements
Team Development
- Mentor and train crew members and new hires on safety, equipment operation, and soil stabilization best practices
- Promote teamwork, accountability, and a culture of high performance on all job sites
- High school diploma or equivalent required; construction or civil engineering coursework preferred
- 5+ years of field supervisory experience in construction, civil engineering, or soil stabilization projects
- Knowledge of soil stabilization equipment, materials, and field processes
- Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to read and interpret project plans, specifications, and technical documents
- Understanding of OSHA and construction safety standards
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Ability to walk, climb, and navigate uneven or rough terrain
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs, operate machinery, and inspect equipment
Work Environment
This position operates primarily on construction and soil stabilization job sites, interacting with field crews, operators, teamsters, QC personnel, and Project Managers. The Field Superintendent ensures that projects are executed safely, efficiently, and according to specifications while supporting the Project Manager in meeting project goals.
