Summary of the Position:

If you're a chemist with experience in personal care and a passion for bringing customers ideas to life, Merit is the perfect place for you. You will work to help the company bring products from concept to final launch on the market. We're looking for someone who is precise, has a strong attention to detail, and a strong understanding of chemistry and cosmetic science.

  • Analyze bulk samples, finished goods, & raw materials as needed.
  • Calibrate, operate, & maintain lab equipment including but not limited to balance, pH/ conductivity meter, moisture analyzer, viscometer, and refractometer.
  • Must be able to use hand tools such as pliers and screwdrivers
  • Lifting 50lbs multiple times a day
  • Assure that stability testing for prototypes and finished goods is conducted within the designated time frame, documented appropriately, and completed in a timely manner.
  • Complete microbiology testing to ensure consumer safety.
  • Work closely with Manufacturing to make batch adjustments when necessary.
  • Conduct batch testing on all types of products such as gels, creams, lotions, serums, sprays, and balms.
  • Keep up on routine documentation management.
  • Maintain, organize, and order lab supplies as necessary.
  • Responsible for general lab cleanup or other duties that may be assigned.

Qualifications:

  • College degree in Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, or related field.
  • Excellent organizational skills, high attention to detail, & strong sense of integrity.
  • Experience with laboratory equipment and procedures such as pH meter, Viscometer, overhead mixers, and autopipettes.
  • Ability to maintain a laboratory notebook as a professional legal document.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Works well in a team environment.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
