Job description

Quality Control Manager

General Tool Company | Quality | Full-Time | Leadership Role

Quality isn’t a department at GTC — it’s a standard we hold ourselves to every single day. We’re looking for a seasoned Quality Control Manager who doesn’t just manage a function but elevates it. You’ll be the subject matter expert on all things inspection and metrology, the person who sets the bar, builds the team, and makes sure every part that leaves our floor is exactly what it needs to be. If you’re a quality professional who leads with expertise, develops people, and drives continuous improvement — this is your seat at the table.

You’re Not Just an Employee. You’re an Owner.

We believe that everyone who helps build this company should share in its success. That’s why we created Ownership For All — giving every eligible full-time employee an ownership stake in the business. From day one, you’re not just joining a team — you’re becoming an owner. At GTC, your wins aren’t just good for the company. They’re good for you.

What You’ll Own

You’ll lead the entire Quality Control organization — inspection, metrology, training, calibration, and the people who make it all work. Your fingerprints will be on the quality of every part we ship.

Leadership & People Development

  • Lead, inspire, and maximize the engagement of the QC team — because great quality starts with great people
  • Manage the QC training program end-to-end, ensuring it’s effective, current, and tailored to what inspectors actually need
  • Identify and track the inspection capabilities of every individual on your team — and build development plans to close any gaps
  • Establish performance controls and goals for the department and your direct reports, then hold the line on them
  • Support the development of departmental strategy and long-term vision

Inspection & Process Excellence

  • Monitor the efficiency and effectiveness of inspection methods selected during planning — and relentlessly eliminate redundancy and non-value-added steps
  • Ensure product conformity is verified as early in the process as possible — catching problems at the source, not at the finish line
  • Oversee nonconformance documentation and containment, ensuring accuracy, speed, and the right corrective path every time
  • Monitor adherence to manufacturing and inspection processes across the floor and correct deviations before they compound
  • Ensure final production records are complete, accurate, and ready for Quality Assurance processing

Metrology & Technology

  • Serve as the company’s SME for all inspection (non-NDT) and metrology activities — the person everyone turns to when it gets technical
  • Ensure the right inspection technologies are available, employed, and driving efficiency
  • Stay current on emerging inspection philosophies and technologies to keep GTC’s capabilities ahead of the curve
  • Provide expert guidance on metrology to Quality Assurance and across the organization
  • Ensure all calibration activities are executed per industry standards and on a schedule that keeps production and inspection running without interruption
  • Support regulatory audits as required by applicable standards and regulatory bodies

What You Bring

  • 10+ years of experience in quality disciplines, with a strong preference for manufacturing environments
  • Proven supervisory experience leading a technical function — defense-based manufacturing experience is a major plus
  • A track record of successfully completing quality improvement projects that delivered real, measurable results
  • Deep expertise in inspection and metrology — you’re the SME, not just the manager
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a technical field — or equivalent experience that speaks for itself
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with coworkers, leadership, and customers alike

Why GTC?

  • Ownership For All — you’re a stakeholder from day one
  • A leadership role with real scope — you’ll own the entire QC function, not just a slice of it
  • An organization that treats quality as a core value, not a compliance checkbox
  • The chance to shape a team, build a program, and leave the function measurably better
  • Work that demands precision — and rewards people who deliver it
  • A culture built on accountability, continuous improvement, and doing the job right

Equal Opportunity Employer M/F/D/V

All applicants will be considered based upon experience and knowledge, without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, ancestry, marital, disabled, or veteran status. GTC is committed to creating and maintaining a workforce environment free from any form of discrimination or harassment.
