JOB PURPOSE
PHINIA is currently looking for a "dynamic, results driven" individual to join as a Quality Administrator at our Aftermarket Remanufacturing Plant in Troy, MI.
This person will be responsible for providing support for our warrant management systems, including evaluation of product field performance, customer warranty debits, product field/warranty cost improvement and customer warranty interface. This person will also coordinate with other departments on field issue resolution and improvement and support the tracking of any quality issues.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Warranty & Field Performance Management
  • Manage and monitor product field performance and warranty-related issues.
  • Evaluate customer warranty debits and determine approval or dispute.
  • Negotiate warranty debits and technical justifications with customers.
  • Review new or updated customer warranty agreements and escalate unacceptable contractual terms.
  • Assist multiple high-profile, high-cost warranty and field issues simultaneously.
  • Drive rapid containment and corrective actions to minimize financial and customer impact.

Warranty Operations & Reporting
  • Log new warranty claims and manage the end-to-end return process.
  • Manage warranty returns, including tracking, disposition, and documentation.
  • Run validation or diagnostic tests on returned components in conjunction with Quality Technicians.
  • Log and document test results accurately in warranty systems/databases.
  • Coordinate warranty activities for products produced by third-party processors.
  • Maintain accurate warranty data, documentation, and reporting to support internal and customer requirements.

Analysis & Continuous Improvement
  • Perform logical, data-driven analysis of warranty and field failures.
  • Identify trends, systemic issues, and improvement opportunities in warranty performance.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives for warranty systems and field performance.
  • Provide failure prevention feedback to Product & Manufacturing Engineering.

Cross-Functional Coordination
  • Coordinate with Manufacturing Plants, Process Engineering, and Product Engineering to ensure timely root cause analysis and corrective actions for field issues.
  • Support structured problem-solving activities (e.g., 8D, A3, root cause analysis), as required.
  • Follow up on corrective, preventive, and improvement actions to ensure effectiveness and closure.
  • Support the return and handling of suspect or defective material to suppliers.

Layered Process Audits (LPA)
  • Coordinate Layered Process Audits, including:
    • Establishing and communicating audit schedules
    • Maintaining audit records and results
    • Tracking closure of non-conformities
    • Identifying recurring, chronic, or systemic issues
    • Leading the LPA Core Team
    • Preparing, reporting, and presenting LPA status, results, and open actions

General Quality Support
  • Support Quality Technician activities, as required.
  • Support 5S standards within Quality Department areas and other assigned areas.
  • Participate in special projects or additional tasks, as assigned.

What we're looking for
  • 5+ years' manufacturing experience; 3+ years in Quality/Warranty (preferred)
  • Experience with warranty returns and field failure analysis
  • Hands-on skills in component teardown, inspection, and testing (injectors preferred)
  • Ability to analyze returned parts and document findings
  • Familiar with Quality Core Tools and ISO 9001
  • Strong problem-solving skills (8D, A3, root cause)
  • Proficient in MS Office, SAP, and quality systems
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and ownership mindset
  • Reliable, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities
