The Opportunity

We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Quality Control Technician based in Atlanta with a minimum of three years of experience in mechanical and electrical quality inspection and testing.

In this role, your primary responsibility will be to ensure that all critical components, subassemblies, and associated materials for Flock Unmanned Aircraft Systems and connected devices meet stringent requirements for quality, safety, performance, and reliability during the production process, and before the final solution is delivered to the customer.

You will work collaboratively with the Quality, NPI (New Product Introduction), Engineering, and Production teams. Your efforts will focus on identifying defects, troubleshooting issues, and continuously improving inspection and testing processes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Inspect incoming components, materials, in-process assemblies, and finished products for compliance with specifications and industry standards

  • Perform functional and performance testing on sub-assemblies such as motors, Processor subsystems, Battery/DC power supplies, connectivity components, sensors, camera modules, cable harnesses, and more

  • Execute and document test protocols per established test procedures

  • Identify, record, and track defects through established quality management systems.

  • Maintain calibration of inspection & testing equipment and ensure proper lab setup for device evaluation

  • Promptly initiate and document Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), including detailed descriptions of non-conformities and potential impact.

  • Collaborate with Quality, NPI, and Engineering teams to address and resolve quality issues

  • Operate and troubleshoot automated programming equipment used to "flash" microcontrollers and other programmable components.

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying process gaps and proposing enhancements.

  • Collaborate with Flock Quality and NPI Engineers to address NCRs, facilitating communication and corrective actions to resolve quality issues.

The Skillset
  • Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.

  • 3+ years of experience in quality control, testing, or inspection of IoT devices, Aerospace electronics, robotics, cameras, or related device hardware.

  • Experience inspecting to IPC-A-610 (Acceptability of Electronic Assemblies) and IPC/WHMA-A-620 (Cable & Wire Harness Assemblies)

  • Strong understanding of including wireless protocols (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, LTE, etc.)

  • Proficiency in standard inspection techniques, measurement tools, and equipment such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges, to verify product dimensions, tolerances, etc.

  • Knowledge of Acceptable Quality Level (AQL) principles and experience in applying AQL sampling plans

  • Experience with test instruments such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, spectrum analyzers, or automated test rigs.

  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and specifications.

  • Proficiency with documentation tools such as Google Docs, Google Sheets, and Quality management procedures.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.

  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

  • Adaptability in a fast-paced, evolving product development cycle.

Preferred:

  • Certification related to quality control, such as Certified Quality Technician (CQT) or similar credentials

  • Technical Degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Quality Assurance, or related field

  • Understanding of ISO 9001:2015, AS9100, or equivalent Quality Management Systems and related best practices

  • Certified IPC Specialist (CIS) for IPC/610/620

  • Experience/familiarity with J-STD-001 (Requirements for Soldered Electrical and Electronic Assemblies)

  • Experience with Python and Android Development (ADB) languages

  • Experience in troubleshooting and diagnosing failure modes and assisting in failure analysis in collaboration with engineering teams

  • Familiarity with regulatory standards and compliance testing for connected devices, electronic circuit board assemblies, etc.

  • Familiarity with PTC Arena Quality Management Software, or related systems

  • Experience with statistical process control (SPC) and root cause analysis methodologies (5 Whys, Fishbone, etc.).

  • Independently execute inspection, testing, and quality validation processes

  • Utilize measurement tools and quality systems with minimal supervision

  • Take ownership of documenting and escalating quality issues through established workflows

90 Days & Beyond

  • Operate as a trusted partner across Quality, Manufacturing, and cross-functional teams

  • Identify opportunities to improve testing, inspection, and quality processes

  • Build deeper technical knowledge to support diagnostics and continuous improvement

Salary & Equity
