About Your Role

CMTS is seeking an experienced QA/QC Inspector Civil Infrastructure to support aviation, transportation, utility, and public infrastructure capital improvement projects throughout the Washington D.C., Maryland, and Virginia (DMV) Region. This role willbe responsible formonitoring and inspecting civil construction activities to help ensure compliance with project plans, specifications, contract requirements, quality standards, and applicable codes.

The QA/QC Inspector will work closely with project managers, construction managers, contractors, engineers, consultants, testing laboratories, and client representatives to support quality assurance and quality control activities throughout all phases of project delivery.

Projects may include roadway improvements, airfield pavement projects, utility infrastructure upgrades, drainage systems, grading and earthwork, concrete and asphalt paving, transportation infrastructure, site development, and other public sector capital improvement initiatives.

Education Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GEDrequired
  • Associates Degree orBachelors Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Engineering Technology, or related field preferred

  • An equivalent combination of education, technical training, and relevant civil QA/QC inspection experience

    Knowledge of applicable civil construction standards, specifications, safety regulations, and quality control procedures
    Familiarity with FAA, DOT, ACI, ASTM, AASHTO, and local jurisdictional standards preferred
    Ability to read and interpret civil construction drawings, specifications, schedules, testing reports, and technical documentation
    Experience documenting field observations, deficiencies, punch list items, and corrective action activities
    Strong understanding of construction safety requirements and OSHA regulations
    Ability to identify quality deficiencies, non-conforming work, and construction compliance concerns while supporting resolution efforts
    Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
    Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    Ability to work collaboratively with contractors, engineers, consultants, testing agencies, and project stakeholders in active construction environments
    Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams
    Experience utilizing digital inspection tools, project management software, and field reporting systems preferred
    Ability to travel throughout Washington D.C., Maryland, and Virginia project locations as required

    Coordinate with project managers, construction managers, contractors, consultants, engineers, testing laboratories, and stakeholders to address quality concerns and support timely issue resolution
    Verify corrective actions and conduct follow-up inspections to confirm compliance with project requirements and approved standards
    Monitor contractor compliance with approved quality control plans, safety standards, environmental requirements, and project procedures
    Participate in project meetings, coordination meetings, progress meetings, and safety meetings as required
    Assist with testing, commissioning, turnover, and project closeout activities including punch list verification and documentation review
    Maintain organized inspection records, photographs, reports, testing documentation, and quality records in accordance with project requirements
    Support quality assurance and quality control initiatives throughout all phases of project delivery
    Monitor project schedules and coordinate inspection activities to support construction sequencing and operational requirements
    Build and maintain positive working relationships with clients, contractors, consultants, testing agencies, and project stakeholders
    Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to operational excellence across project teams
