Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The QC Inspector works under the direction of the Quality Assurance Manager. Working in conjunction with the Quality Assurance Supervisor, this individual is responsible for the delivery of high quality products that meet customers’ specifications. Must be able to resolve issues, follow a corrective and preventive action system and interface with customers directly. The Quality Control inspector monitors, tests and inspects all processes involved in the production of a product and product itself. She/he must ensure the quality standards are met by every component of the product or service provided by a company.


POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs in Process inspections.
  • Cleans and touches up parts when necessary.
  • Assures special testing is performed by the responsible department(s).
  • Reviews all test data.
  • Verifies dimensions.
  • Verifies the quantity and overall workmanship.
  • Assists in training personnel in the proper methods of inspection.
  • Issues Rejection Reports when required.
  • Assists in prioritizing work order flow.
  • Assures units meet the requirements on travelers and Acceptance Test Procedures (ATP’s).
  • Performs incoming Visual/Mechanical inspections using appropriate equipment if needed.
  • Forwards accepted finished parts to next assembly level.
  • Completes and issues Defective Material Reports (DMR’s) when incoming items are found to be non-conforming to Purchase Order requirements.
  • Performs final inspection to assure finished parts meet all customer and internal requirements.
  • Prepares and distributes all required documentation.
  • Performs other duties, as assigned, in other departments when required.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

WORK CONTACTS:

This position is in contact with manufacturing personnel, quality assurance, purchasing, facilities and equipment maintenance, sales, finance, human resources and administrative personnel.

PHYSICAL EFFORT:

This position may occasionally be required to lift, push and pull up to 25 pounds. Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50%. Position needs to occasionally move about inside and throughout production plant. The person in this position frequently communicates with staff and management who have inquiries, therefore, he/she must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. He/she will require the ability to read materials including safety policies and procedures. Must have the ability to learn technical material regarding industry for quality and production process analysis when required. Reasonable accommodations will be made for disabled professionals. Must be able to read markings for accuracy, must have the ability to inspect parts utilizing a microscope. Must have the ability to use her/his fingers to clean potted parts. Must be able to document details by writing. (Ability to handle repetitive functions).


SAFETY:

Must be able to perform this job safely without endangering the health or safety of self or others.


WORKING CONDITIONS:

Works throughout the premises as needed. Work environment may have noise levels ranging from medium to quiet. The environment for this position varies from clean, climate controlled offices to manufacturing and warehouse areas.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent and 3-5 years’ experience in Quality Control Inspection.
  • Have some knowledge of aerospace quality practices and of standards including AS9100/ISO 9001.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, technical packages and specifications.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Should be good in arithmetic calculation and possess mechanical aptitude when required.
  • The QC Inspector should have knowledge and understanding of the different methods for quality assurance used in the industry.
  • Skills should be based on the visual inspection of a product along with tests based on the quality of the product being inspected.
  • QC inspector monitors every process involved in the production of a product.
