Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Quality Control Associate is responsible for supporting quality assurance, compliance, and continuous improvement efforts across all production areas of the Graphics Center. Working in close partnership with the Quality team within the Compliance Department and cross-functional production teams, this role helps implement and sustain quality standards, conducts routine audits and process verification, maintains quality records and inspection documentation, and supports the identification, escalation, and follow-up of quality issues to improve process consistency and product quality.

 

POSITION COMPETENCIES: Responsibilities associated with each position are a combination of organization-wide and department specific standards. Competencies are evaluated initially during each employee’s Introductory Period using the on boarding plan and manager observations.  Thereafter, competencies are assessed on an on-going basis and formally documented annually using the Annual Performance Appraisal Form.

JOB FUNCTIONS:

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

 

  • Conduct routine audits of QC inspections and production processes to verify adherence to quality standards, established procedures, and applicable external requirements; document inspection results, nonconformances, and follow-up actions, and escalate recurring or critical issues through the appropriate channels.
  • Use, promote, and maintain QC inspections within Miller Zell’s digital quality inspection platform to support paperless quality records, issue tracking, and analytics, ensuring inspection records and quality data are complete, accurate, up to date, and communicated as needed to support daily operations and process visibility.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, department leads, and upper management.
  • Collaborate closely with the Quality team in the Compliance Department and with all production teams to deploy quality standards, support implementation, reinforce quality expectations, and ensure adherence across production processes.
  • Assess customer requirements and maintain a clear understanding of work orders, job structures, specifications, and quality checkpoints to ensure production output and inspection criteria are aligned.
  • Attend and/or assist with first checks and production start-up checks as needed.
  • Ensure consistency and quality control throughout all production processes and support end-to-end product quality to help ensure products meet or exceed customer requirements and internal quality standards.
  • Support internal and external audit readiness by maintaining organized records and assisting with document preparation as requested; maintain compliance by ensuring all processes comply with internal quality standards and external regulations.
  • Identify quality inconsistencies or process deviations during inspections and audits, and communicate findings promptly to supervisors or the Quality Manager.
  • Support basic root-cause investigation and corrective action follow-up by collecting facts, tracking actions, and verifying completion; monitor recurring defects and quality trends and provide feedback to improve process consistency and reduce rework.
  • Assist with onboarding and training associates on company quality policies, procedures, and inspection expectations; promote and support a culture of quality and continuous improvement across production and support teams; partner with operations to support Lean manufacturing initiatives by participating in continuous improvement projects and/or Quality events.
  • Serve as an advocate and role model for plant safety; assist the Safety & Compliance Manager and department managers in identifying safety risks or concerns; punctuality and regular attendance are required for this position.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Education:                                       High school diploma or equivalent required. An associate degree or technical diploma in

                                                          Quality Management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.

Experience:                                     Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a quality assurance or quality control role,

                                                          preferably within a production or logistics environment.

Special Skills/Qualifications:         Strong analytical skills with a focus on data analysis and problem-solving. Attention to

                                                          detail and the ability to perform thorough audits and inspections. Excellent communication

                                                          and interpersonal skills to work effectively with various teams. Proficiency in Microsoft

                                                          Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and experience with quality management software

                                                          or tools. Familiarity with quality management standards

MENTAL AND EMOTIONAL REQUIREMENTS: The incumbent must manage stress appropriately; make decisions under pressure; handle multiple priorities, work alone; work in areas that are confined and/or crowded.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: The incumbent will never be exposed to toxins, chemicals, detergents, x-ray/electromagnetic energy, Communicable diseases, or gases and may be exposed to extreme temperatures (30degrees F – 115 degrees F), dust, fumes, moving mechanical parts, high pitched noises.  The incumbent will spend approximately 80% of their time indoors.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: SEDENTARY WORK: Lifting 50 lbs. maximum and occasionally lifting and/or carrying articles.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:  Must be able to lift and/or push up to 50 pounds.  This position requires stooping, kneeling, bending, manual dexterity, repetitive hand and arm coordination, finger dexterity, vision acuity both far and near with depth perception.  The incumbent will sit 20% of the time and stand/walk 80% of the time.
