Overview

An employee-owned company in the construction sector is seeking an experienced QC Manager to lead quality control initiatives across shop and field operations. This role is responsible for ensuring all fabricated steel assemblies meet company standards, customer requirements, and industry specifications, while mentoring the team and setting a strong example in safety, quality, and professionalism.

The Role

The QC Manager oversees inspection processes, implements quality procedures, and provides leadership to fabricators and shop personnel. Success in this role requires advanced technical knowledge, strong leadership and mentoring skills, and the ability to work independently to maintain the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform all duties of Fabricator I, ensuring adherence to shop drawings, WPS, and AWS standards

  • Lead QC processes to inspect steel assemblies for compliance with JB Steel Fabrication Procedures, AISC, and AWS standards

  • Mentor and train fabricators and shop personnel, setting a strong example in quality, safety, and work ethic

  • Demonstrate leadership by monitoring quality performance, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing corrective actions

  • Ensure all inspections and QC documentation are accurate and up-to-date

  • Use time efficiently to meet production schedules while maintaining quality standards

  • Work independently when required while maintaining communication with management

  • Follow the company code of ethics and employee handbook

  • Perform all other duties as assigned
