Location: on site in Chester, CT

Position Type: Full time

Work Schedule: Monday- Friday 7AM-3:30PM, overtime mandated as business needs require

FLSA Classification: non-exempt, OT eligibility

Reporting structure: position reports to Quality Control Manager

Travel Requirements: around 20%, as applicable to customer and suppliers, both domestic and international

Position Summary: The QC Technician will perform an array of quality control functions under the direction of the Quality Control Manager and conduct qualitative testing on raw materials and finished goods.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform critical dimension checks on incoming products and raw materials
  • Perform visual quality inspection of incoming finished products
  • Complete and maintain inspection documents
  • Control the flow of items into and out of the QC area.
  • Perform first piece and inspections as determined by frequency noted on check production sheets
  • Computer data entry using SAP-System
  • Create NMRโ€™s and control rejected material
  • Perform capability studies
  • Provide support to receiving identifying material as needed
  • Read and understand engineering drawings (dimensioning and tolerancing).
  • Use calipers, metric tape and other basic measuring devices
  • Determine fine color distinctions
  • Observe all safety requirements
  • General housekeeping
  • Use a pallet jack/ Forklift as needed
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications & competencies:

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, including dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T preferred)
  • Proficiency with measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, tape measures, etc.)
  • Experience performing dimensional and visual inspections on incoming and in process materials
  • Experience with inspection documentation and NMR processes
  • ERP systems proficiency (SAP preferred)
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify defects and variations
  • Strong understanding of quality principles, inspection methods, and documentation practices
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain accurate records
  • Good communication and teamwork skills, leadership skills are a plus
  • Microsoft 365 with advanced Excel skills
  • Operate forklift/pallet jack
  • Valid Driver's Licence

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Ability to perform work in a production environment that may be physically demanding
  • Ability to sit, stand and walk for extended periods of time
  • Ability to move throughout the facility to acces work areas
  • Ability to reach, handle and inspect items at varying heights
  • Manual dexterity, hand -eye coordination and precision to operate testing equipment and measuring gauges
  • Ability to safely operate a fork list
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Pay Range: The pay range for this position is between $35-40/hour. The actual range will depend on varying circumstances and individualized factors, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations.
